I wake to voices arguing, their words floating in and out of my consciousness like distant waves. My body feels impossibly heavy, as if I'm sinking through the mattress.
"You need to leave. Now." Serafina's voice is sharp, cutting through the fog in my brain.
"I'm not leaving her." Kael's deep growl sends a strange shiver through me even in my weakened state.
"You're the reason she's like this!" Seraphina hisses. "Your touch is draining her dry."
I try to open my eyes, but my lids feel weighted down. Memories flash through my mind—Kael's hands on my skin, his mouth on mine, the overwhelming sensation of pleasure followed by... nothing.
"My wolf needs to see she's breathing." Kael's voice sounds strained, desperate.
"Your wolf nearly killed her!" Seraphina snaps. "She needs medical attention, not your possessive hovering."
Medical attention? Am I dying?
