Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Man Who Remembers Too Much

šŸ° Hogwarts – Dungeons, Midnight

Chris awoke in a cold sweat.

Magic still hadn't returned. The Tempus Fragor spell had wrung him dry. His vision flickered, and the System's interface glitched at the edges.

"āš ļø System Recovery: 43%šŸ“› Warning: You have been detected.šŸ‘ Temporal Signature Locked-On."

He stumbled into the corridor.

Hermione had kept her distance since the incident in the infirmary. She didn't press, but her eyes said it all:

She knew.

And now, someone else did too.

🌫 Elsewhere…

Deep within the Department of Mysteries, a circle of black-robed figures stood in silence around a pulsing temporal orb.

But one figure stepped away from the circle. His face was obscured by shadow, his wand made of gray bone and silver wire.

He was once known as Solan Myrr, the youngest Unspeakable in a hundred years.

Now, the Ministry called him:

"The Rememberer."

He did not obey timelines. He catalogued the forgotten, the erased, and the impossible.

And someone—Chris Kim—had just broken a death.

Solan whispered to the orb:

— "Another fracture. Hogwarts. Same ripple signature as the last anomaly. This time… I'll end it myself."

🧠 System Notification (Visible only to Chris)

Chris sat alone. Wand in hand. Still magically locked.

Hermione entered, her usual books in hand—but she didn't sit. She simply said:

— "There's a man in the forest. Dressed in black. The wards didn't stop him."

Chris looked up sharply.

She added, quieter: "He looked straight at the castle… like he knew I was watching."

He stood.

— "We need to talk."

šŸ”„ Later That Night – The Room of Requirement

Chris finally explained: not everything, but enough.

About the System, about Cedric, and the temporal recoil.

Hermione, pale but focused, said:

— "So he's here for you."

Chris nodded. "But if he gets me… he'll dismantle the timeline to erase the paradox. And I think he'll take Hogwarts with it."

Hermione's eyes lit with fire.

— "Then let's fight back."

Chris and Hermione stood side by side as the room morphed around them.

It became something ancient—walls inscribed with lost prophecies, broken clocks ticking in reverse, glass shelves holding future wands, alternate Horcruxes, and fragments of memories that never came to pass.

And on one scroll, written in ink that bled like a heartbeat:

"To kill a time-hunter, one must borrow a death."

Hermione looked at him, voice tight:

— "What the hell does that mean?"

Chris didn't know.

But they had 48 hours to find out.
