Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 - Do You Need Money? If Not, Use Special Effects!

Although the Ancient One is called a sorcerer and uses magic, including her, all the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj have a heart for close combat.

It's like Loki, who calls himself a sorcerer but uses two daggers as an assassin when he fights.

He's changed his class but hasn't fully committed.

When rookie Loki was still asking how to play close combat, the veteran Ancient One was already well-versed in it.

With magic, she doesn't need to rely on it. Ah, she just plays around.

Jokes aside, Ancient One does handle close combat well, especially her Lightning Five Whips, which are so fast that even super speed can't catch the whip. All that's visible are golden energy flashes.

Lightning Five Whips?

Ancient One: "Are you polite?"

"Bang!"

Ancient One kicked out, using the momentum to flip backward, creating distance from Fenris.

"The Lord of the Void, truly impressive."

In response to Ancient One's praise, Fenris shook his head regretfully. "Are you really that short on money?"

Ancient One was stunned. "Although it's not much, I'm not exactly lacking. Why do you ask?"

Not lacking money? Then why not use special effects?

You have Wind of Watoomb, Shield of Seraphim, Sacred Sword of Vishanti, Bolts of Balthakk, and Images of Ikonn. Why not use them?

Especially the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. You use them! If you don't, how am I supposed to use them, how am I supposed to look cool?

The mighty Sorcerer Supreme has no competitive spirit when facing the 'Lord of the Void.' Where's your responsibility to protect Earth? Are you lying flat?

"Let's go, next time I'll buy you the first cup of milk tea in autumn," Fenris waved his hand 'melancholically' and left the mirror dimension.

"…"

Ancient One, confused, also left the mirror dimension. Fenris's reaction made her feel like she had somehow disappointed him.

But the question was, what had she done?

Mordo, concerned, came up. "Master, are you okay?"

"I–I don't know," Ancient One thought for a moment with a strange expression, then asked, "Do you know the meaning of the first cup of milk tea in autumn?"

"The first cup of milk tea in autumn? No, I don't know. Should it just be milk tea?"

Mordo was also confused. Why was the master asking about milk tea as soon as she came out? Does she want milk tea?

But she always drank regular tea, didn't she?

Ancient One nodded, then asked, "Are we lacking money?"

"Money? We're not lacking money, Master. That person, you said he's the Lord of the Void. What's the Void, and what's his purpose here?"

Mordo was uncertain about his master's meaning and decided to change the subject. He asked about the mysterious guest who shattered the Seraphim's Shield with a single punch.

"The Void is the end of the multiverse's timelines. The Lord of the Void, Fenris's intention–"

Ancient One shook her head. She thought Fenris had come for the Book of Cagliostro, but after a brief test of strength, he just left inexplicably.

"He probably has no ill intentions, but you should still show respect when you meet him again. This Lord of the Void is stronger than I thought, and he's unpredictable."

"Understood."

The strength of the Lord of the Void was fully evident in that one punch and Ancient One's reaction.

To this day, Mordo hadn't heard of anyone capable of breaking the Seraphim's Shield with a single punch, not even Ancient One.

At Everywhere Logistics' New York branch.

Fenris studied the Mirror Dimension and Soul Projection for a while, packed up the valuable items from the safe into his backpack, and then headed downstairs.

"Martin." Fenris waved to Lee Martin, who had changed his clothes at some point.

Lee Martin instinctively shuddered and hurried over with a nervous smile.

"Boss, is there something you need?"

Fenris handed over the backpack. Lee Martin opened it, paused for a moment, and then whispered, "Do you want me to dispose of these?"

Fenris nodded.

"I'll handle it."

Lee Martin was familiar with this type of task. It was just about turning stolen goods into cash. When he worked for the snakehead organization, many people would pay for their smuggling services with valuable items when they didn't have enough cash.

Fenris tried to pat his shoulder, but Lee Martin dodged and moved to the other side to present his uninjured shoulder.

How considerate!

Fenris was satisfied and patted him. "Go ahead, remember to come to work tomorrow morning."

"Yes."

Lee Martin said goodbye to Jessica Jones and the others, grabbed the backpack, and left.

Jessica Jones pulled Fenris aside and quietly asked, "Did you hit him when you sent him out earlier?"

Fenris raised an eyebrow. "Did he say that?"

Jessica shook her head. "I'm not blind. You can't tell he's hurt? Even though he changed his clothes, I can still smell a faint bloodstain."

"He's already had it rough."

"How rough?"

"You don't know. Back in your hometown, he owned a zipper factory and lived an average life with his wife. Later, due to pressure from officials, he decided to move here."

"He finally saved enough money, but his wife remarried while she was here."

"He smuggled over, but saw many smuggled people die in the dark, cramped ship hold. Some died from severe dehydration, while others were abused by the snakehead organization."

"He barely saw hope, and then the boat started sinking. Two hundred people died, and he was the only survivor."

Fenris, looking at Jessica's somewhat sad expression, didn't know what to say.

The stories about the wife remarrying and the two hundred deaths, with him as the only survivor, were all sympathy-inducing lies.

If he hadn't used reasoning first and then asked, Lee Martin would probably have told him something similar.
