Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: The Rise of Luna Sovereign

The moon rose high above the Council Arena, shining down on a world forever changed. The ancient stones that once bore witness to power passed between Alphas now echoed with the howls of celebration, howls that honors a Luna, not as a mate, but as a sovereign in her own right.

Aria stood at the center of it all, the wind in her hair, her blade sheathed at her hip, and a quiet fire burning behind her silver eyes.

The elders knelt.

The she-wolves bowed.

Even the Alphas looked on in silence, as the balance of power shifted before them.

No crown adorned her head.

She didn't need one.

The crescent mark glowing at her collarbone was proof enough that the Moon had chosen her.At the ceremonial gathering that followed, Aria stood on a platform constructed of stone and woven branches, where Alphas swore oaths and new laws were passed. But this time, the voice leading the pledges was hers.

"I, Aria Nightwind," she said, her voice ringing across the clearing, "stand not as an Alpha's consort, but as Luna Sovereign. I claim no throne by mating bond, no rank by male permission. I claim it by strength, blood, and spirit by the trials of the Moon."

Every wolf knelt as she raised her hand, the moon's glow falling directly on her. Even the wind hushed to hear her next words.

"I decree that from this day forward, no Luna shall be stripped of her power through rejection. No she-wolf shall be cast out for being strong. We rise together, or not at all."

Whispers turned into applause. Howls filled the skies.Across the arena, Ronan watched her from the shadows, pride glowing in his eyes. He didn't approach, didn't try to share her spotlight. He knew this moment belonged to her alone.Kade stood at the far end of the field, shoulders slumped, his black coat dulled by shame. He hadn't spoken a word since the trial ended.Aria walked toward him slowly. The crowd watched in breathless silence. She stopped a few feet away from her former mate.

"Kade," she said softly.

He lifted his head. His once-proud face was drawn, eyes haunted.

"I don't expect forgiveness," he said hoarsely. "But I am… sorry."

"I know," she replied. "And I don't need your regret. I needed your respect. But I had to earn it from you myself first."

Kade lowered his gaze.

"I will leave the Dark Moon Pack," he said quietly. "You should lead it now."

Aria shook her head. "No. I have no desire to rule a pack that still sees power only through an Alpha's eyes."She turned, facing the crowd once more.

"I'm building something new."

In the days that followed, Aria received wolves from all corners of the realm.Rogues, she-wolves, second sons, and misfits came to her gates seeking a place in the future she had declared.

She welcomed them not as subjects, but as equals.

At Crescent Keep, her council was formed not of warriors or lords, but of healers, historians, and fighters from all ranks and bloodlines.

Her first order?

Freedom for every bonded mate to reject without punishment.

Her second?

The creation of the Luna Guard,an elite force led by she-wolves trained in both combat and Luna magic, tasked with defending the helpless across pack lines. She wasn't just changing the pack structure. She was rewriting the laws of their world. One night, as the fires of celebration died down, Aria walked alone through the temple garden that Ronan had restored in her absence. She stopped beneath a silverleaf tree, its blossoms glowing faintly in the moonlight.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Ronan's voice said behind her.

She turned. He stood in simple black, no armor, no weapons. Just himself.

She smiled faintly. "You planted this?"

"I did," he said. "It's a tree from the old forest. They say it only blooms in places where true peace grows."

She looked at it quietly. "I'm not sure I've found peace."

He stepped beside her. "You've earned the right to seek it."

They stood in silence. The air between them was full of memory, of what had passed and what hadn't yet begun.

"I've watched you carry the world on your shoulders," he said. "I've followed you through exile and fire. But I never stood in your way."

"You didn't try to fix me," she said softly.

"I wouldn't dare."

She turned to him, the moon casting silver light between their faces. "I don't know if I'm ready for more. Not yet."

Ronan nodded. "Then I'll wait."

His voice was steady. Certain.

"You don't have to," she whispered.

"I want to," he said. "And when you're ready… I'll still be here."

And in that moment, something shifted inside her not a burning need or desperate pull, but a quiet warmth. A trust so deep it no longer needed words.Later, she stood once more on the cliffs overlooking the valley, her crescent banner fluttering in the night wind.

She had lost everything home, love, name.

And she had reclaimed it all on her own terms.

She was no longer the Luna who needed a throne to stand tall.

She was the throne.

And under the watchful gaze of the Moon, Aria Nightwind smiled.
