Chapter 1 - Awakening Ceremony.

The air was dry. The breeze in the atmosphere was thick. It carried a strange aura. Inside Zoldon Academy, lots of students in crimson jackets magneted towards a large podium. On it stood a hulky figure of Shalet Von, the Vice Chancellor of Zoldon Academy.

Today was a grand day. Today the school was organising the Awakening Ceremony of the year. Awakening Ceremony was regular in most magic schools. It was an event where schools of magic academies awakened their students. It was the day when students absorbed essence.

What is essence? Essence is a tiny energy particle that flowed in atmosphere. It was too little to be noticed. After the first raid of demons, humans were able to extract mighty cores from demons and with these cores, they were able to create magic orbs that was used in Magic academies as Essence Orbs.

These Essence Orbs were able to trap a large amount of essence which made it quite easier for the students. The students had to attract the essence in the Essence Orb. But magneting that was still difficult as other impurities caused a blue back glow. Now one's ability to the attract a certain amount of essence determined the rank of the person.

Students crowded around the podium. Their gaze were fixed on Shalet who stared at the large glowing orb. A smile trailed on his lips as he noticed the air was filled with excitement and nervousness. Some were confident in themselves while others knew they were just a bunch of crap.

Someone like Helium. His face was red with nervousness. His black hair streaked backwards; his gaze fixed on Shalet who didn't notice his gaze out of the numerous he felt. He looked lean and skinny. His jacket didn't clung to his body but rather he looked like he had lost so much pounds.

"Don't be nervous man. We are here for you." A decent voice breezed in from behind him. Helium turned sharply to notice two figures. One a male and the other a female. The male was Halor and the female was Zera.

Halor was bulky figure; his green hair matched out rightly with his green pupils and green coat. Zera was a slim figure but not as skinny as Helium. Her body still glowed in beauty rather than Helium who looked haggard. Her yellow hair was neatly packed and her lips were red as cherry.

"I… I'm not." Helium stammered. Halor stared at him with concern.

"Not a good way to handle it. You're nervous. Do not keep it to yourself. Come on we are friends. We got to share each others problems." Halor uttered.

Helium looked away. He was always not good at anything. He was a dullard in magic but his two friends were quite brilliant and that made him awful.

He didn't feel jealousy. It only felt like he was pulling them down and wanted to impress them. They were always there for him and the fact that he couldn't reciprocate the same help or care made him upset. He always stressed himself. He had to work, extra because of him.

"Helium, no matter what tier you turn out to be, we will always be your friends." Zera said as she touched his shoulder. He turned sharply to stare at her.

For a moment, a faint light hovered. A gentle smile crawled across his lips.

"Thanks guys. You really are something else. I love you guys."

Halor chuckled lightly and graced calming tears in him. Helium stared at him with his golden lit eyes. Halor nodded with a slight sigh. And just as he was about to speak, Shalet's cold voice tore through their air.

"Students! As you all know me, my name's Shalet Von. I'm the Vice Chancellor of Zoldon Academy! I believe you all know why we gathered here! Today is the honourable Awakening Ceremony of Zoldon Academy! Today you get to prove who you are! Today you get to awaken! Today you get to move your the port of power! Today you stand a chance to earn yourself a good job.

"As you all know, different Guilds are present. They are here to pick the best among the best. They are present to select the worthy ones. To utilize here the best products of acquiring magic." Shalet poured out his loud voice and it already echoing through the crowd.

Everyone stared amongst each other to see if they could sight the representatives of the Guilds who might be very important to help earn rank. But spotting them would be as difficult as searching for a diamond among thorns. The Guilds representatives had a usual way of viewing everything. Probably they stayed somewhere above in invisible cloaks.

"Your tier is your ticket to your success. There are numerous jobs out there being offered! Hunting, medical science, laboratory science, military and then some petty jobs. So now I urge you to your best . I believe you know that awakening, occurs once. I simple flop and your future is totally flopped. It will reflect the paths of your life. That said, I wish you utilize your abilities, and the knowledge you've acquired from properly!" Shalet shouted.

"There is no need to wish for a purpose of luck and grace. Sadly, the truth must face us no matter how beautiful or paint it . Do your best. I will give a recess of thirty minutes to ready your minds." Shalet said as he dismissed them.

Helium stared at Shalet. He felt like Shalet's words were directed to him. All the time, his friends had used the pen to paint a good picture out of his life. Just as Shalet had said, he had accept the harsh truth and hope a good relationship with friends.
