Chapter 7 - 7. Will Pawn Shop

Point is not far from Anchorage, only 300 kilometers at most. Li Wei arrived at his destination smoothly in just three hours.

He was not in a hurry to find a buyer. Instead, he drove his F150 around the streets looking for a place to eat.

Perhaps due to the transmigration or the system, Li Wei found that he got hungry very easily now. He had eaten so much pizza in the morning, but it was completely digested in just over three hours.

He planned to fill his stomach first before selling the ambergris.

The F150 stopped in front of a Mexican restaurant. Under Jessica's shocked gaze, Li Wei directly ordered a large table of signature dishes.

After eating his fill, Li Wei rushed to the largest shopping center in Anchorage to buy clothes.

There was nothing he could do. When he washed up and changed clothes this morning, he found that many of the original owner's clothes did not fit him at all.

His physique had clearly become much sturdier, and even his "software and hardware" had developed vigorously.

Naturally, Li Wei was overjoyed about this. After all, the body is the capital for revolution.

After a shopping spree in the mall, both of them had quite a few shopping bags in their hands.

It was already two o'clock in the afternoon. Arriving at the pickup truck, Li Wei put away the shopping bags and asked with a smile:

"Jessica, is there anywhere else you want to go?"

Jessica was holding a vanilla ice cream cone at the moment, licking it in small bites, and said contentedly:

"No, my waist is a bit sore from walking around today."

Li Wei involuntarily looked at the two majestic peaks and secretly thought, with such a large scale, the weight must not be light. With the center of gravity too far forward, how could your waist not hurt!

Of course, he definitely couldn't say that out loud.

He quickly averted his gaze and said:

"Okay, then let's get down to business."

"Mm-hmm."

The F150 engine roared, speeding towards the hardware store.

More than twenty minutes later, the F150 pickup truck stopped steadily in front of a hardware store.

After Li Wei spent 4500 us dollars, a pile of packed parts appeared in the truck bed.

These were parts of the Sea Monster that were prone to damage.

Since he decided to engage in the deep-sea fishing industry, he needed to prepare in advance.

"To do a good job, one must first sharpen one's tools."

Although Alaska has abundant marine fishery resources, the danger of catching them is not low.

Every year, people lose their lives on this vast sea.

He was lucky to live another life, and it was a perfect start. If he lost this life due to his own negligence, he probably wouldn't have another chance to restart.

"There are a million ways to make money, but safety comes first."

"Irregular fishing, Li Wei sheds tears."

After leaving the hardware store, Li Wei went to several more stores consecutively.

The items in the truck bed visibly increased, and the balance in Li Wei's card was also visibly decreasing. If there was no income soon, it would quickly fall below five figures.

However, thinking about the ambergris in his backpack, his urgent mood relaxed again.

He had previously learned about the market price of ambergris in 2004 through Google. It was about 100 us dollars per gram. The piece of ambergris he found weighed 1.4 kilograms, so selling it for 150,000 to 160,000 should not be a problem.

With this influx of funds, he wouldn't have to worry about money for a short time.

By then, the inheritance and compensation money would almost all be in hand.

After confirming that everything on the list was purchased, the F150 slowly drove towards the largest pawn shop in Anchorage.

Pawn shops in Eagle Country are very common. They exist in almost every town, and the more developed the city, the more pawn shops there are.

It can be said that whenever the economy of Eagle Country starts to decline, ordinary people basically have to live by pawning things.

The business scope of pawn shops is also very wide. In addition to the regular buying and selling of second-hand goods, they also provide small loans, buy and sell antiques, jewelry, luxury goods, firearms, and so on.

There is nothing you can't think of that they don't deal with.

Before long, Li Wei saw a shop with a huge sign from afar through the car window. This was his final destination for this trip - Wei'er Pawn Shop.

The F150 pickup truck slowly stopped by the roadside. Through the glass, he could see many customers in the shop browsing goods.

Li Wei picked up the backpack containing the ambergris and got out of the car. Jessica followed closely beside him, looking at the surrounding pedestrians with a vigilant expression, like a little leopard guarding its food.

Seeing this scene, Li Wei couldn't help but feel a bit amused and exasperated.

"Jessica, relax a bit. You're easily attracting attention from people with ulterior motives like this."

Hearing this, the girl's cheeks immediately flushed, and she also realized that her actions just now were indeed a bit attention-grabbing.

By the time she calmed herself down, Li Wei had already walked into the pawn shop. Seeing this, Jessica quickly jogged to catch up.

The appearance of the handsome man and beautiful woman naturally attracted the attention of many customers, but everyone just glanced at them, and their attention quickly returned to the goods on the shelves.

Li Wei did not linger too long at the entrance of the shop and walked straight towards the counter.

He had previously learned about this pawn shop online. The owner had a high reputation and offered fair prices, which was why he came directly to this pawn shop.

Behind the counter, a bald, burly man greeted him warmly:

"Buddy, what can I get for you? We have everything here."

"Boss, I'm planning to sell something. I wonder if you buy it."

As soon as Li Wei came in, he recognized the bald, burly man as the boss, so he didn't plan to beat around the bush and directly stated his purpose, while also taking off the backpack from his back.

Seeing Li Wei's actions, the bald man slowly reached his hands under the counter.

Under the counter was an M870 shotgun loaded with shells. As long as the young man in front of him showed even the slightest sign of trouble, he was absolutely confident he could send the other party to meet god first.

However, when Wei'er saw what was in the backpack, his expression immediately relaxed, followed by some confusion.

You want to sell me a broken stone? You're not sent by that guy Willis to cause trouble, are you!

When he looked at the contents of the bag again, as if he thought of something, his hand also came up from under the counter, and he said with a face full of enthusiasm:

"Hello, I'm Wei'er, Wei'er. Streecy, the owner of this pawn shop."

"Hello, I'm Li Wei."

Li Wei said it with his mouth, keeping a calm expression, but his back was already soaked with cold sweat.

He thought to himself, as expected of the state with the second-highest crime rate in all of Eagle Country, the boss keeps a shotgun within reach at all times.

He had naturally seen Wei'er's small movement through the virtual screen in his vision. Fortunately, the other party didn't misunderstand, otherwise, his life might have ended right here.

The two lightly shook hands, looked around, and then said in a low voice:

"Li Wei, I think we need to find a quiet place to talk in detail."

"That's what I was thinking too."

Li Wei naturally agreed with Wei'er's suggestion.

In Alaska, people would even rob for ten dollars, let alone a piece of ambergris worth six figures. If someone with ulterior motives found out, there was no need to think about what would happen next.

Li Wei re-zipped his backpack and then followed Wei'er towards the reception room on the second floor.

The reception room was not large, only a little over 20 square meters. Inside, there was a table and four chairs.

After Li Wei and the other person were seated, Wei'er said with a smile:

"Li Wei, what would you like to drink?"

"Thanks, Wei'er. Let's get down to business."

Jessica had originally wanted a cup of coffee, but after hearing Li Wei's words, she swallowed the words that were about to come out.

She was not stupid and immediately understood the meaning behind Li Wei's words.

After all, this was someone else's territory, and there was a valuable piece of ambergris in the backpack. No matter how careful and cautious they were, it wouldn't be excessive.

Wei'er shrugged, not minding it.

After all three sat down, Wei'er took the ambergris and began to examine it carefully.

Just now downstairs, there were too many people and eyes, so he didn't take it out to examine it. Now that he had the ambergris in hand, he knew it was genuine.

In a place like Alaska, there are lucky people who find ambergris every year. With frequent exposure, one can naturally quickly determine its authenticity.

After putting down the ambergris, Wei'er asked:

"Li Wei, can I test it?"

"Feel free."

Getting Li Wei's consent, Wei'er didn't waste time. He took out a small knife, scraped some powder from the surface of the ambergris, and then took out a lighter to ignite the powder on the tip of the knife.

As the powder ignited, a wisp of green smoke rose, and a "unique" smell wafted past everyone's noses.

After taking a deep breath, Wei'er said in an excited tone:

"That's right, this is the smell!"
