Chapter 7 - Blood and Baptism

Part I – The Light Finds Its Pawn

Location: Chapel of the Fallen Flame, Capital of Liora

Kael had not slept in days. Not because of nightmares—those were familiar now—but because of the voice.

It came not in words, but in burning feeling.Every time he touched his blade, it whispered purpose.Every time he closed his eyes, he saw a spear of gold drifting through darkness.

A relic had been taken. The world had shifted.

He didn't understand how he knew. But the gods had started speaking.

"You are no longer just a survivor," the voice told him."You are a witness to a coming war."

Part II – The Man in White

On the seventh day, a man appeared at Kael's training grounds. He wore robes too white to stain.Eyes silver. No visible weapon.

He walked past guards without resistance, entered the training field, and waited until Kael noticed him.

"You're in the wrong place," Kael said.

"No," the man replied calmly. "You are."

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"I am Elias Valcroft," the man said. "Seer of Astrael. Guide of Champions."

"I don't need a guide."

"You will. Soon," Elias replied. "Because the path you walk leads either to sainthood… or to a throne made of corpses."

Part III – A Baptism in Fire

That night, Kael followed Elias to a sacred spring hidden beneath the city's cathedral.

The water shimmered not with light—but memory.

"Baptism in Astrael's Spring reveals the truth of your soul," Elias explained. "If your heart is true, you will emerge whole."

"And if it's not?"

"You will drown in your own sins."

Kael stepped in.

The water pulled him under.Visions surged through his mind:

His first kill.

Vaenira's face.

The burned village.

Zerath's throne.

His future self, drenched in blood, holding the Spear of Astrael… over a mountain of bodies.

Kael screamed.

And when he emerged, his eyes were glowing faintly gold.

Part IV – The Shadow Court is Born

Location: Black Citadel of Zerath

While Kael grappled with his destiny, I assembled mine.

Seven figures knelt before me, cloaked, masked, powerful:

Vaenira – Blade of Lies

Yurein – Keeper of Undeath

Gorhax – Warlord of Flame

The Masked Librarian – Memory Thief

Shadewalker Ren – Assassin of Realms

Velatrix – Spider of Secrets (spy master)

Grimul – Demon of Forbidden Law

"You are my Shadow Court," I declared."You will control everything the kingdoms ignore: secrets, crime, terror, and whispers."

One by one, they pledged loyalty—not out of love, but out of fear and vision.

"From this moment on," I said, "the world does not move unless I allow it."

Part V – The Crossing Paths

Far across the world, Kael stood alone after the baptism, shaking.

"I saw him," he whispered. "The one in the black throne."

Elias looked grave. "That is the enemy of all that lives. The final villain."

"I'll kill him," Kael said.

But deep down, in a place he refused to acknowledge—he remembered the girl who gave him his first blade.

Vaenira.

And he hesitated.
