Chapter 3 - Discovered

The sunlight beat down on me, the stinging heat waking me from sleep. I poked my head out of the straw pile—no one was around, the house was locked up, and a few chickens and ducks were scurrying around pecking at the ground.

"I wonder if these poultry can evolve into humans too."

What if I stepped out and suddenly these chickens and ducks turned into people and captured me? Just the thought sent a chill down my spine. But before I could dwell on it, hunger crept in again. A few days ago I still had those dry biscuits to get by, but I hadn't eaten anything at all yesterday. My stomach rumbled violently, throat dry, lips cracked.

I spotted a well nearby and tiptoed over, drew a bucket of water, drank eagerly, and washed my face. Then I looked around—this place looked exactly like one of those ancient villages from historical dramas: deserted and quiet.

I circled the house and jumped into the kitchen through the window. On the shelf, I found some leftover flatbread, a turnip, and a few unknown vegetables. I couldn't tell what kind of greens they were, and as for the bread… what if it had rat meat or even human meat inside? That thought made me instantly reach for the turnip and eat it all instead.

Honestly, I didn't dare wander too far—I still didn't know anything about this place, and danger could be lurking anywhere. This crazy world seemed like the kind where one wrong move could cost you your life. Besides, just looking at the creatures here was already terrifying enough.

So for the next few days, I kept hiding in the straw pile, waiting until the dog-rabbit couple went off to the fields, then sneaking out to scavenge for food and eavesdrop for any information. Truly, no one had it worse than me. If I were still in my own world, I'd be in a cozy bed, living freely, jumping around without a care.

But life wasn't so kind. A few days passed, and before I could gather anything useful, I was discovered.

That day, I was sneaking past the neighbor's house, climbing up through a kitchen window, when a man standing behind me stared and sniffed the air. His voice was deep and mumbling: "So fragrant..."

I froze and spun around. This man—if I had to compare him to an animal—looked exactly like a pig. His whole body was round and pudgy, at least 1.9 meters tall, with flared nostrils and lips, and squinty eyes.

"Who are you... I've never seen anyone as stunning as you before."

Just looking at him made anxiety surge in my chest. My heart screamed in panic: "You... you... stay back!"

He stopped in his tracks, seemingly stunned by my soft voice. This man had clearly never seen a woman with such fair skin and gentle voice before, and he couldn't restrain himself. He moved in close and said bluntly, "I want to mate with you."

I nearly coughed up blood. I couldn't stop myself from yelling: "Screw you!"

He stepped closer, and I reflexively kicked him in the gut. But his fat, mountain-like body didn't budge an inch.

He grabbed me, breathing in my scent over and over, mumbling, "So fragrant, you smell so good…"

I struggled like a child in his strong arms, but the more I thrashed, the tighter he held me.

I opened my mouth and bit hard into his flabby arm. "You bastard! Let me go!" But he was unmovable—like a stone.

It was then that my survival instinct kicked in. I lifted my leg and kicked him with all my strength between the legs.

"Aaah! That hurts!"

His face twisted in pain, and he let go to clutch his groin. I took that chance to jump up and land a solid kick to his belly. His massive body wobbled, but he didn't fall. I quickly ducked under his arm and ran like mad.

He took a few moments to recover, then his heavy body thudded after me. I ran with everything I had, but he was catching up. Beastly strength really did outmatch human stamina.

As he closed in, I bent down, grabbed a handful of dirt, and flung it straight into his face. Dust flew into his eyes, and he stumbled, blinded and confused, then tripped and fell hard onto the road.

I seized the moment and kept running. I ran and ran until nightfall. By then, I had no idea where I even was anymore.

I found myself in a vast area that looked like farmland. In the dim light, I couldn't tell if it was a field or a garden, but I had no strength left. I collapsed to the ground, bawling my eyes out. "Huhu... why is my life so cursed… Just kill me already instead of throwing me into this damn world... huhu…"

I tried to hold back the tears, but I couldn't. My heart was heavy with fear and frustration. I cried until I was too exhausted to stay awake and passed out right there on the ground.

The next morning, the sunlight warming my face woke me up. Looking around, I realized this really was farmland. I immediately scrambled away in case I bumped into someone again.

Hiding quietly in a small bush, I thought to myself—how strange. I'd been out in the sun every day here, eating poorly and sleeping in straw, yet my skin and face hadn't tanned or roughened. In fact, I looked even fairer than before, my figure more graceful. Could it be that, as someone from another world, I wasn't affected by the physical rules of this place?
