Chapter 2 - Welcome to Dragon Game!

Brain freeze!

A cacophony of voices filled his eardrums, hurried footsteps, some excited laughter….

"Welcome to the Dragon Game everyone," a loud voice echoed in a massive hall.

Many people were in it, teenagers and some young adults, all with dragon eggs in their hands.

Drahon was still holding the dragon egg he had picked before coming here. He was half dazed, almost crammed in between many people.

Good thing he was quite tall or he wouldn't be visible at all.

A large wide podium was in front of him and on it stood a beautiful lady in a golden robe with hair plaited to the side and attractive eyelashes.

She was the one speaking.

"Eggs were dropped to you guys all at once for you to discover and that is why you are here."

Drahon looked at the people with the corner of his eyes, some were admiring their dragon eggs while some were kissing upon the surface.

No one actually paid each other attention, some looked around occasionally but really didn't focus on anyone while the others were deeply into their eggs. Nevertheless they all listened to what the beautiful woman in the golden robe was saying.

"You all are amateurs that is why you are here first. Normally you all would just enter into the game but then, you have to know what you are getting into."

They all nodded in the affirmative.

"The Dragon Game is like a video game where at a certain time, people from all over the world are chosen to participate in it. Now, we don't just choose any random people. No!, we pick people who have a bit of potential to be in the game. Be it a poor kid, or rich kid or even an orphan, when in the Dragon Game your lives changes. You get to hatch the eggs, awaken your dragons and then own it."

Drahon was deeply invested in her words now.

"It is not actually a video game but instead a game-like world where you fight for survival and have (if you're lucky), a whole lot of fun."

The crowd were enthusiastic and each of them looked like people that would do anything to be in the game. Although not all showed this energetic enthusiasm but at least almost all of them were smiling. Except for Drahon though, who kept a straight face, immersed in what the lady was saying.

Real or not, Dragons were his favorite creatures and he had always wanted to ride one. And now this lady was saying they could actually own one?

Yippee!

Drahon was starting to get pretty much excited. Even though he didn't know what he was about to face in the Dragon Game, at least it meant he would be where he could have fun, have friends and do the things he wasn't able to do in the orphanage.

The beautiful lady continued.

"When you get into the game, your eggs will hatch and you will get to see your dragons. But then, the type of dragon you hatch will determine how you will survive inside the game."

Drahon squinted his eyes as he looked at his dragon egg.

There were types of dragons in this game?

Of course he knew there were types of dragons but he didn't specifically know they were something to worry about.

He thought any dragon you awakened would be just as proficient as another.

"There are five types of dragons in the Dragon Game. They are -"

She took a deep breath before continuing:

"The Sixth Rank – Ploxers. These are basic starter dragons. Strong, but they really don't hold much power. If you find an egg with one, that means you're basic—and you'll need more than them to survive. Their only ability is flight. They cannot roar out fire or ice or even air. And so your chance of survival will be pretty grim unless you're a skilled fighter. Don't get me wrong, in case any of you get them, well, many will get them so…, don't panic. All you have to do is avoid daunting fights and learn how to run away, hide and be friends with people who have higher ranked dragons."

"The Fifth Rank – Bronzers. These dragons are fast and evasive. Skilled in dodging attacks and great for speed-based tactics. Their fire is weak, but they can outfly most enemies. If you get this, then your chances of survival is pretty low but then they are good if only you use them well as their tactical, speedy and dodging nature makes them superb in combat."

"The Fourth Rank – Winterers. These are frost-based dragons. They can unleash freezing breath and are immune to cold. They're strong defensively and good for crowd control in battle. If you awaken this then you have a chance to do amazingly well in the game, only if you know how to use it as it is not quite strong but only does really well in a frosty place."

"The Third Rank – Demon Dragons. These dragons are rare and highly dangerous. They are literally demonic. Not in a bad way but in a good way actually. They use dark energy and chaos flames, and often come with curses. Strong but hard to control. If you get this, then you are prone to turn villain."

She paused, looking at their faces before continuing:

"Note, the game each knows your personality, and so the dragon you awaken is kind of based on it."

The crowd nodded and Drahon followed in the act, fascinated with what he was hearing.

"The Second Rank – Fire Dragons. These dragons are kind of rare but really come in handy. They can fly really fast, high or low and are really good fire breathers. A massive roar from them can set a very huge building made of bricks on fire. Their roars also have levels, meaning the higher the level, the more stronger they become."

"And the Highest Rank – Golden Dragons.

These are legendary dragons, literally impossible to find. Some say they've gone extinct. They control multiple elements, can even speak in ancient runes, and are considered the kings of all dragons. Bonding with one is almost impossible. If any of you eventually bonds to it, you ultimately get the rank of Dragon Lord and that is the highest rank you need to attain to win the game. So do not expect this type of dragon in your eggs. It is only possible to find later on after accomplishing so many great things in the game and reaching a certain level."

Drahon couldn't help but gape in surprise. Some people beside him gasped (well, very few actually as Drahon didn't quite see the need for the act).

Others nodded in the affirmative while the rest did nothing, waiting for the lady's next words.

"Now you all are ready to go into the Dragon Game. You will face monsters and deadly beasts but with your dragons, I hope that isn't so much a problem."

She hesitated for a few seconds before throwing her head back a bit, like she just remembered something very important.
