In primary school children are taught that the Gifted are the saviours of our planet, helping it through its hardest times. In high school, children are taught that the Gifted are born as just normal people, until a genetic mutation occurs within them, basically changing a one to a zero. In university, people are taught about the powers a Gifted can have. Be it enhanced strength, speed, intelligence or even telekinesis or mind control. People are conditioned as they are growing to both love and fear the Gifted, as they control every aspect of our planet, from the jobs we work, to the amount of children a family can have. The first recorded sighting of a Gifted was in 1875, in Belgium. The 'first Gifted' was a teenage girl named Ophelia. She had the power to create a sort of exoskeleton with her bones, hardening her body to defend from attacks. Although Ophelia was the first Gifted in recorded history, she was unable to properly defend herself from the townsfolk she had known her whole life. Ophelia was hung and killed for being different than others, which started a hatred between Gifted people and normal people, often called 'Greys' by the Gifted people of the world. Nowadays, Gifted people are highly respected by the Greys of the world, although they definitely shouldn't due to the high levels of discrimination across the entire planet.
