Chapter 11 - 11- Cancel the contract

CHAPTER 11

"I thought so too, Thalia, but Orion insists I live with him full time. Don't worry, I'll visit you as often as I can. And when I'm more settled there, you can even come to visit me sometimes." She said as she touched Thalia's arm, but Thalia looked away, feigning anger.

"I hope that works. Anyway, I can help you pack now because I'll be out of the house in a few minutes, I have an appointment with my doctor today. I didn't know you were coming this early." Thalia said.

"Don't stress yourself, Thalia. I'm not in a hurry to go back to Orion's house. I'll take my time to pack, you might even come back and still meet me here."

'In that case, take my spare key," Thalia said and handed a spare key to Calista.

"If you're hungry, you can find yourself something to eat, you know where the kitchen is,"

"Thank you, my friend." Thalia hugged her again and gave her a peck on the cheek before changing her dress and leaving the house.

Calista made herself tea and some toasted bread, and had a little nap, before gradually packing her belongings into a big box.

She needed some freedom and wished she could stay at Thalia's place sometimes, but she knew that was not negotiable. Orion had already warned her not to go against his rules, to enable them to cohabit peacefully.

She looked at the time when she was done packing and it was already evening. She had planned to get home before Orion returned from work to avoid his many interrogations, so she took a cab and left.

Orion's house was a luxury apartment. It was beautiful and much more comfortable, but she didn't have the peace of mind she needed while staying there.

She took a deep breath and exhaled sharply, before unpacking her bags in her room.

A few moments later, she heard the honk of a car and realized Orion had returned home, "Thank goodness I got here before him," she exclaimed as she pushed her bag to the side and stood up, heading to the living room. She didn't want him to come into her room and see her unpacking, she didn't want him to suspect she returned not too long.

"Welcome Sir," she said as soon as he entered the living room.

He ignored her and went straight to his room. He looked like something was bothering him, but she couldn't ask him what the problem was.

She decided to go check up on him after some hours, seeing that he didn't come downstairs for dinner as he would.

She knocked the third time before getting a response from him.

"Come in, the door is not locked," Orion said.

She took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly before talking.

"Sir, I just wanted to know if you were fine. I didn't see you come downstairs for dinner," she said, fiddling with her fingers.

"I'm not hungry. I'm fine as you can see," he responded in a cold voice.

"Okay, then. I'll just take my leave. She turned to leave but he called her back.

"Sit," he said gesturing to her to sit on his bed.

She was reluctant but sat anyway.

"My father doesn't seem to have forgiven me for the stunt I pulled," he started, his voice low and vulnerable.

"Do you have an idea what I can do to win back his love?" he asked, raising his gaze to meet Calista's.

She swallowed slowly, not knowing how to respond. She wasn't expecting him to ask her opinion on such a matter since she barely knew his father.

"Uhm... I'm not sure what you can do, but I think you should be a little patient with him. He's probably still processing everything, and he'll forgive you since he loves you. After all, you're his only son and heir. Your mother and sister might be influencing him to pull back, though, especially since they don't like me." Calista said.

"You have a point. My mother thinks that because you're not from a wealthy family, you're probably with me for the money, but she doesn't know you signed a pre-nuptial agreement with me, and she doesn't need to know. You already know what's responsible for Lilith's bad attitude, but my father has always taken sides with me. I was just worried because he has never ignored my call for this long no matter the kind of argument we have." Orion said, putting his hands on his chin.

"The worst part of it is he was absent at the board meeting we had at the company today. I looked forward to seeing him, so I could have a private chat with him, without my mother interrupting," he added, running his hands over his face.

"Well, I'm sorry you're this troubled because of a decision you gladly made, I thought you had everything under control," Calista said.

"Are you trying to mock me or what?" Orion flipped.

"I apologize if you see it that way, why don't you go see him at home? What if there's something else going on that you're not aware of?"

"You're right. Since I can't seem to focus on anything, I should go there now," he grabbed his bag and Calista walked out of his room quietly, glad that he found her suggestion useful.

"Calista, thank you," he said with a small smile, which she returned.

"One more thing…" he beckoned on her to take a step into the room and shut the door."

"What is it?" She asked.

"I'm not as bad as you think. Yeah… I was upset with everything that happened but I wouldn't have sued you. It was a ploy to get you to agree to my request." Calista shone her eyes in surprise.

"Are you for real?" She asked and he nodded.

"Well, what's the point telling me that now, you still got what you wanted and I'm here now as your wife for your selfish reasons, or are you remorseful? Do you plan to cancel the contract and forgive me?"
