Griffin's POV
I never thought I'd witness Nathaniel Ricardo, one of the most powerful men in Oceanion, commit a felony. But here we were.
"You can't be serious," I hissed, grabbing his arm as we stood outside the detention center.
Nathaniel's eyes were cold, harder than I'd ever seen them. "Juliana's dying in there."
"But breaking in? That's—"
"A crime?" He shrugged off my hand. "So is negligent homicide. They're killing her with their indifference."
He straightened his tie, a man preparing for battle rather than committing a crime. I'd known Nathaniel for years as a ruthless businessman, but this was different. This was personal.
"You're throwing away everything," I warned. "Your company, your freedom..."
"I don't care."
The simplicity of his response stunned me. In that moment, I realized this wasn't just some marriage of convenience. Not anymore.
"Stay here if you want," he said, already moving toward the entrance.
