It has been two weeks since Mark moved to Forks. During that time, he preferred to stay home most of the time. Since the weather in Forks is mostly rainy, Mark didn't feel like going out to meet people.
During this time, Mark got his driver's license, which was very easy for him. He also discovered he had traveled back to the year 2008 — a huge shift from his previous life in 2025. How did Mark realize this?
It happened when he tried to use his phone to watch some movies. Looking at the outdated device, Mark felt it would be hard to adapt. Although he could buy one from the system's store, he decided to embrace this new life.
Today, Mark and William went out to buy Mark's car. On the way to the dealership, they discussed what kind of car to buy. Mark had no financial issues.
Now he could say he had infinite wealth, but he felt it was more appropriate to get a used car. After a brief discussion, William took Mark to a used car dealership. Upon arriving, Mark headed straight for the sports cars — as a young man, he felt they matched his style.
However, after browsing, he didn't find anything that appealed to him.
"Son, what do you think of this car?"
William pointed to an old pickup truck.
"I didn't like it,"
Mark said, a look of distaste on his face. That truck was ugly, he thought.
"How about we go to another dealership?" William asked.
To be honest, he didn't like the cars there either.
"Alright," Mark replied. Father and son turned and left.
A few minutes later, they arrived at another used car dealership. This one looked much larger, which made Mark more hopeful. Maybe he'd find something good here.
After entering, he scanned the area until something caught his eye. Walking over to the car he liked, Mark checked the model and year: Ford Mustang 1967.
It was black with two white stripes running down the middle. Both the interior and exterior were in good condition. But what excited Mark the most was that he remembered this car from the movie Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.
He had always loved the franchise. Seeing the car in front of him stirred a strong desire to own it. "This one!" he said.
William looked silently at his son. After a brief inspection, he called over the seller for a test drive. After running all the tests, they were satisfied.
It only needed a new set of tires. William paid $18,000 and sent the car to the workshop. Then they returned home.
A few days later, the car was delivered. Looking at his new baby, Mark felt truly happy.
…
Days went by, and today was the first day of school. Mark was in his second-to-last year of high school. After breakfast, he grabbed his keys, backpack, and said goodbye to his father.
He drove to his new school and soon found Forks High School. After parking, he took out the school map and headed straight to his classroom. His first class was Social Studies.
After walking in, Mark chose a seat. All the way there, people stared at him. He was handsome and had a unique aura.
Mark noticed it from the beginning, but didn't let it distract him. He quietly focused on his own things. No one came up to speak to him, so he didn't seek out new friendships either.
Classes went by smoothly all morning. No one approached him. At lunch, Mark went to the cafeteria.
After grabbing food, he found a free table to sit at. That's when someone approached him.
"I've never seen you around here. Are you new?"
Mark raised an eyebrow and looked up. It was a girl wearing glasses and holding a camera. For some reason, she seemed familiar to him.
"Yes, I moved to Forks this year," Mark replied with a polite smile.
