Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

"Ugh… where am I?"

It was pitch-dark.

Shinya couldn't see a thing — just an endless void stretching in every direction. There was no ground beneath him, no sky above him. Just nothing.

His voice echoed faintly, though he wasn't even sure if he had a voice here.

"Wait… there's light over there. Maybe I'll find something."

Drawn by instinct, he drifted toward a faint glow in the distance, his body no longer flesh and bone, but a weightless, wandering soul.

As he neared the light, strange sounds met him — faint at first, then clearer: the high-pitched cries of newborns, echoing in the strange tunnel of radiance.

"What…? Babies?"

Then came muffled voices — faint, yet oddly distinct, as if they were being spoken directly into his mind.

"Wait, Your Highness. It seems there's still one child left," a deep, commanding male voice announced.

"Please hang in there, honey," another urged — this one gentler, full of worry. Shinya's vision swam as the world slowly took shape: a dimly lit room, a woman lying on a grand canopy bed, sweat beading her brow, her breaths ragged. Beside her stood a noble-looking man with golden hair, gripping her hand tightly.

After a few moments, Shinya felt his entire being pulled — heavy, unbearably heavy — and then… light.

Cold air kissed his skin. His tiny lungs filled on their own, and he let out an involuntary cry.

He blinked, and the world came into focus.

He was… a baby?

The man who held him — an elderly mage in long, ornate robes — lifted him into the lamplight. Shinya caught a glimpse of himself in a polished bronze plate on the wall: pale skin, dark gray eyes, and hair so strange it startled him — black at the roots, fading to silvery white at the tips.

Two baby girls, already swaddled and lying in a carved wooden cradle, watched him sleepily from the side of the bed. Their chestnut-brown hair and soft amber eyes clearly mirrored the golden-haired man. They were twins — and clearly his sisters, just born moments earlier.

Shinya's mind reeled.

"No way… This isn't Earth… I… I've reincarnated… in another world…!"

His wide baby eyes darted toward the window, where an unfamiliar night sky stretched beyond — a sea of stars and constellations he didn't recognize.

The old mage stared down at him in silence — wide-eyed and unsettled. Then, all at once, the mage gasped.

"A-Ah!!"

The sound startled everyone in the room.

The golden-haired man's expression darkened, his voice sharp and commanding:

"What's wrong? Why are you shouting?"

The mage swallowed hard, clutching Shinya closer.

"Your Highness… the third prince's mana has already awakened… and it's…"

He faltered, then forced the words out:

"…comparable to that of a dragon."

The man's eyes widened in disbelief.

"What? How is that possible? What do you mean, 'but'?"

The mage grimaced.

"But… his core is too small to handle such an immense amount of mana. Worse, it's unstable — the flow could easily reverse at any moment and devour him from within. He doesn't even know how to control it yet."

"What?" the golden-haired man snapped. He turned on the mage, furious.

"Don't you have an artifact or spell that can suppress his mana?"

"We do… but I fear even our strongest seals won't last long at this rate," the mage replied grimly.

The nobleman clenched his jaw.

"Then bring as many as you can. Now."

The mage bowed hastily.

"As you wish, Your Highness."

Meanwhile, in the mage's trembling hands, Shinya's tiny eyes darted from one face to another.

"Wha—what??" his thoughts screamed.

"I've only just reincarnated, and I'm already facing death?! What the hell kind of start is this??"

"Calm down… calm down, me. Panicking won't help. I've been through worse… right? No… no, this is definitely worse!"

Shinya felt his tiny body trembling as the old mage hurried out of the room, cradling him as though carrying a live bomb. His oversized robe swished behind him, and the golden-haired man — apparently "Your Highness" — barked orders to unseen attendants.

"I really am in another world… and I'm the third prince? What kind of messed-up luck is this…?"

The King followed at a brisk pace, his boots clacking against the marble floor. Behind them came two maids carrying the swaddled twin girls, who only stared at the ceiling with quiet, drowsy eyes.

Shinya risked a glance at the mage's face — lined and pale, beads of sweat running down his temple.

"This old man looks more scared than I am. That can't be good."

They entered a large, circular chamber — walls lined with intricate runes that glowed faintly. At the center stood a tall stone pedestal with a faintly humming crystal on top.

"Set him here. Now!" the king ordered.

"Yes, Your Majesty," the mage said, setting Shinya gently atop the crystal. It glowed brighter the moment his tiny body touched it, and a strange warmth seeped through him.

A second mage — younger, with copper-colored hair — rushed in, already chanting incantations. Golden light swirled in the air around them.

"The core readings are… ridiculous. How did he even survive being born?"

"I have no idea," the old mage admitted, wiping his brow. "It's a miracle the mother survived as well."

The king — for that's who he clearly was now — scowled as he ordered the mages standing by.

"Don't just stand there. Seal it. Do whatever it takes."

"Yes, Your Majesty," they replied in unison.

"Seal it? Seal what? Wait… they mean my mana, don't they?!"

Shinya's mind raced.

"I finally get reincarnated in a fantasy world — which, yes, I may or may not have dreamed of back on Earth — and what happens? Oh, congratulations! You're born with too much power, and it's literally killing you! What kind of cheat skill is this supposed to be?!"

The younger mage pressed his hands over the crystal, and Shinya felt a sharp chill in his chest.

"Ow— hey! That hurts!" he wanted to shout, but all that came out was a weak cry.

The older mage glanced down at him. "He's resisting?"

"Unbelievable. He is instinctively pushing back against the seal?" the younger mage explained, gritting his teeth. "We'll need more time!"

The king slammed his hand against the pedestal, startling them both.

"You'll have what you need. Do it now. He cannot stay like this — if his mana flares up even once, the backlash will kill him… and everyone else in the room."

"Great. Wonderful. Not ominous at all," Shinya thought bitterly.

"And just how is a baby supposed to control mana anyway? I can't even control my bladder yet!"

The twin girls in their maids' arms let out soft cries, perhaps sensing the heavy atmosphere. The king shot them a look and waved the maids toward the door.

"Take the princesses to the nursery. Keep them away from here."

"Yes, Your Majesty," the maids murmured before hurrying out.

The king's gaze returned to Shinya. His golden eyes — cold and calculating — bored into him.

"Third prince or not, I won't allow you to jeopardize this kingdom," he said quietly. Then, raising his voice: "Mages. Begin the sealing ritual!"

"Wha—! That didn't sound very reassuring. Jeopardize? I'm just a baby, damn it!"

But the mages didn't hesitate. They began chanting louder, their voices weaving together in a strange, harmonic resonance. The crystal beneath Shinya glowed fiercely, and he felt something heavy press down on his chest.

"Oh no… oh no, oh no… this feels wrong—"

His vision blurred, and his baby body started to shake uncontrollably. Heat and cold battled inside him, his mana roaring like a caged beast.

"So this is what dying twice feels like… and this even worse because it's painful…?"

Shinya lost consciousness. He had died again but this time instead of the pitch black abyss, he was in an area which was completely white and he heard strange unfamiliar voice but it still somehow caused him to calm down dispute not knowing why.

"You're back again?"

"Oh. It seems your little body can't handle that power yet huh?" He said. "You can't even use your trait to overcome this."

"Well I guess you can't do anything without knowing anything about the world you're in as you have a human mind for now but I'll help you out."

Then a purple screen manifested in front of shinya.

Shinya froze. His eyes widened in disbelief at what he was seeing.

"Isn't this the light novel of eternal horizon?"

"Now that I see it really is. Right now I am the prince of darkness Lucien Valthon. He was killed off screen when the demon king of lust's minions invaded the castle. "Yes. Right now as we speak, he has already acquired divinity. And this is his fifth regression."

"Since you have everything that you can use I believe it's time for you to return."

The voice said

"Wai- " shinya couldn't finish the words as he was sent back to his body.
