The abandoned gym had no lights just an old dusty court and a scattered group of misfits standing in awkward silence
Hibiki clapped his hands
"Alright ghost squad we got three days before the Shadow Cup kicks off and uh...none of you even know each other's names so that's a good start"
One guy sneezed
Another yawned
A girl in a track jacket leaned against the wall arms crossed eyes half-closed
Amano didn't speak
He walked to the center of the court dropped a ball and stood there
"Captain practice match. Me versus all of you. First to score wins"
Silence
Laughter
Then confusion
"Wait what? One versus nine?"
Amano didn't answer
He tapped the ball forward
One of the guys charged in trying to body him
Amano slipped right under his arm turned and popped the ball up into the air
Another tried to intercept
He let the ball bounce off the wall used the rebound and rainbow flicked it over two defenders
Within seconds he had dribbled through six
He wasn't just playing
He was studying them
How they ran
How they reacted
Who hesitated
Who lunged
Then without warning he stopped near the goal
Turned around
And passed the ball backwards
Straight to the girl in the track jacket
She blinked
"Me?"
He nodded once
She tapped it in casually
Goal
Amano turned to Hibiki
"She's captain"
Gasps
Hibiki blinked
"Bro that wasn't even your goal though?"
Amano walked past them toward the wall scribbled something on the board and turned
"She's the only one who moved when I passed blind"
"Means she reads the game"
The girl shrugged
"Cool. But I ain't remembering all your names. Just follow me if you don't wanna lose"
A legend wasn't born that day
A system was
A team with no name
No fixed formation
Led by a captain that no one picked
Except the one no one understood
