Chapter 1: Entering the Medical School
Su Jin'er stared at the admission letter in her hands, lost in thought. She couldn't understand why her parents insisted she follow their path, forcing her into a medical career she despised. The sterile environment of hospitals, the scent of antiseptics—everything about it repulsed her.
The only silver lining was her best friend, Lin Yuan, who would be attending the same university. Unlike Su Jin'er, Lin Yuan was fascinated by anatomy, often gleefully describing the thrill of a scalpel slicing through skin. To Su Jin'er, it was borderline psychotic.
A sudden ringtone snapped her back to reality. She picked up her phone—Lin Yuan's name flashed on the screen.
"Jin'er!" Lin Yuan's voice boomed through the receiver, forcing Su Jin'er to pull the phone away from her ear.
"Did you get your admission letter? Of course you did! You aced the exams—I got mine too! We're going to the same school!" Lin Yuan's excitement was palpable.
Su Jin'er forced a smile. "Yeah, I got it."
"Perfect! We'll be together again!"
Would it really be perfect? Su Jin'er wondered. Medicine was a noble profession, but the thought of blood made her nauseous.
Lin Yuan seemed to sense her hesitation. "I know you hate hospitals, but since we're here, let's make the best of it. We'll stick together, no matter what!"
"Okay."
That single word, spoken half-heartedly, would later plunge her into a nightmare beyond imagination
