Mrs. Moreau's coughing fit sent everyone into a panic. Her face turned an alarming shade of red as she doubled over, gasping for air between violent spasms.
"Eleanor!" Lachlan rushed to her side, his face pale with fear. "What's happening to her?"
Orla stood frozen, her eyes wide with shock. "I don't understand. The medicine was supposed to help!"
Mrs. Moreau clutched at her chest, each cough more violent than the last. Tears streamed down her face as she fought for breath.
Colette wrung her hands nervously. "Someone do something!"
Lachlan turned to Jasper, desperation etched across his features. "You said this medication was safe!"
"It is!" Jasper insisted, though doubt flickered across his face. "It must be an allergic reaction."
Mrs. Moreau shook her head frantically, pointing at the vial Lachlan had confiscated from under her pillow.
"She wants that girl's medicine," Colette scoffed. "Absolutely not!"
