Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: The One Who Trusts, The One Who Hunts

Location: Memory Rift Alpha-19 – After the Fragment Split

Kael paced the edge of the scarred memory zone, watching Yanis hover mid-air, her body wrapped in black and crimson fractal light. Her eyes flickered — back and forth, again and again — as if two people were fighting over the same body.

> "Yanis…" he whispered.

Her eyes locked on him.

> "Kael?" she asked — soft, vulnerable.

Then a blink.

The tone changed.

> "No. Not Kael. Seedfather."

Her feet touched the ground. She staggered forward… then split.

Not in body.

In presence.

To Kael's left: the Yanis he knew — guarded, loyal, terrified of what she was becoming.

To his right: a second version — cloaked in the fragment's red-black aura, a cruel mirror with knowing eyes and a voice like truth sharpened into a blade.

> "You should've let her die when the link began," said the darker Yanis. "You knew she wasn't strong enough."

> "You're not her," Kael growled.

> "I'm exactly her," she said, smirking. "Just the version who remembers everything. Including what you did to Aeyra."

---

The Split Deepens

Kael looked between them.

> "Yanis… both of you… this isn't stable."

The true Yanis turned to him.

> "She knows things I don't. But she's me, Kael. I can feel it. Every thought she has… I could have had."

The darker Yanis tilted her head.

> "And what if I'm right? What if the only way to save the Seed… is to kill him before he breaks it again?"

---

Sealbreaker Detected

Suddenly — alarms surged in Kael's interface.

> [Protocol Breach Detected – Choir Agent Class: SEALBREAKER]

[Target: Seed Echo / Null Throne]

[Time-To-Impact: 2 minutes]

Kael cursed.

> "We don't have time for this!"

The darker Yanis smiled.

> "Oh, but I've been waiting for them."

---

Scene Shift – Atmosphere Breach

Above, tearing through the sky like a burning spear, came the Sealbreaker.

A figure encased in white-gold armor, its voice a hymn of deletion, its weapon a Seed Eraser Lance—capable of unraveling soul-tethers in a single strike.

> "By the Choir's command, the heresy ends now."

---

Back in the Rift

Kael activated his full Null Throne class — obsidian aura flaring, shadow shields forming.

But the Sealbreaker wasn't aiming at him.

It went straight for Yanis.

Both of her.

The two versions of her looked at each other.

And in a rare moment of unity — they merged again.

> "You don't get to choose which version of me dies," Yanis said coldly.

And her hands lit up.

Red in one. Black in the other.

The 14th fragment wasn't just unstable.

It was angry.

---

Final Clash – Cliffhanger

The Sealbreaker landed like thunder. The ground cracked. Time bent.

Kael charged.

Yanis screamed — not in pain, but in fury.

And from her back, something began to emerge—

A symbol.

One Kael hadn't seen since the days before the Seed fractured.

The Sigil of the Forgemother.
