Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Born to Be Broken

In a world where power is dictated by Systems, only the fortunate manage to survive.

The forsaken are tossed aside like garbage—devoid of strength, dignity, or hope.

Kael Vire is one of those forsaken souls, abandoned at birth and raised in a place that shatters spirits, betrayed by the very last person he trusted.

But when he's pushed to his limits, something ancient stirs within him.

This is the tale of how a broken boy transformed into the tyrant they forged.

Rain pounded against the rusted metal roofs as darkness enveloped the city of Draewyn's Verge, a slum lost to time and ruled by silence.

In a dilapidated orphanage on the outskirts, a boy knelt in a puddle of his own blood, hands shaking, eyes vacant.

Kael Vire didn't cry. He had run out of tears long ago.

The cut on his lip throbbed from where Caretaker Joran had struck him—again.

P Kael had dared to ask for an extra slice of bread.

Just one word out of line had earned him a beating.

The others watched from the shadows, but no one stepped in.

No one ever did.

He was the lowest of the low here.

No friends.

No family.

No System.

Everyone else his age had awakened some power—Flamebound, Ironhide, even Whispersight.

But Kael? He remained powerless.

Hollow. Not even the Orphan Registry acknowledged his name.

"You're not supposed to exist," Joran had once sneered, his eyes filled with disdain.

But tonight, everything was about to change.

Kael dragged himself up to the upper attic where he spent his nights alone.

It was nothing more than four rotting planks, a leaky ceiling, and a blanket he had cobbled together from torn bedsheets.

He curled up tight as the cold seeped through his skin.

Thunder rumbled ominously in the distance. He wasn't angry.

He was just... done. Done with hope. Done with begging.

Done pretending he was like everyone else. That's when he heard it—a voice.

Not from outside, but from within.

[System Detected: Host recognized. Condition - Broken. Status - Forsaken. Initiating protocol...]

Kael's body jolted.

[Welcome, Kael Vire. Dread Sovereign System initializing. Input acknowledged: Emotion-Despair. Primary Attribute Boost: Willpower. New Trait Unlocked: Tyrant's Seed.]

The pain disappeared.

Not gradually—instantly.

His mind cleared, and the cold faded away, replaced by a surge of power.

Raw. Dark. Hungry.

He could feel it pulsing in his chest like a second heartbeat, as if the shadows were now leaning toward him, and the silence was whispering back.

Kael stood tall.

His eyes, once dull and defeated, now sparkled with a fierce crimson light.

[First Skill Unlocked: Broken Crown]

[Effect: Transforms trauma into power. +1 Control over anyone who has turned their back on you.]

He let out a laugh.

It was the first sound he'd made in years that wasn't a whimper or a cry.

It was sharp, cold, and completely unfiltered.

Down below, Joran was cursing at something and slammed the doors of the orphanage shut

Kael didn't flinch.

"Let them all walk away from me."

"I'll remember their backs as they turn."

"And when I rise... I'll make them kneel."

Outside, the storm intensified. But within Kael Vire, a different kind of storm was brewing.

One that wouldn't cease until the world bled.
