——

Su Xiao carefully reviewed the details, committing them to memory.

His current level was LV.1, which essentially dictated his authority level within the Reincarnation Paradise.

The One Piece world he'd entered had a difficulty rating of LV.6, while he was only LV.1—meaning he was severely outmatched.

Normally, the Paradise wouldn't send a Contractor into a world five levels above them. This was a direct consequence of his Hunter status.

The benefits of being a Hunter remained unclear, but the drawbacks were already evident: extreme danger.

Entering an LV.6 world, accepting an LV.3 mission, while being only LV.1—this "game" was rigged from the start.

Moreover, according to the Paradise's instructions, he would be tasked with eliminating 'abnormal' Contractors in future worlds.

This meant he was inherently antagonistic toward most Contractors. Even if he were willing to cooperate, others would never trust him.

The moment his identity was exposed, they would gang up on him without hesitation.

Who could guarantee their Contractor ID wasn't on his hit list?

As for the so-called "protection measures" listed in his profile—Su Xiao didn't even fully trust the Reincarnation Paradise itself, let alone its promises of safety.

But there was a silver lining.

His attributes were above average, a testament to years of rigorous training.

While these stats might seem insignificant in the One Piece world, they at least gave him a higher starting point.

More importantly, Su Xiao's true strength wasn't just in numbers.

He possessed combat experience and the mental fortitude to fight without flinching.

He wasn't a genius strategist, but he had something equally valuable—a fearless resolve.

Not that he was immune to fear, but compared to ordinary people, his threshold for risk was far higher.

This was his greatest asset in the Reincarnation Paradise.

Sometimes, courage mattered more than brute strength.

"Alright then… let's see just how dangerous this world really is."

With a burst of agility, Su Xiao dashed forward, planted his foot on the windowsill, and launched himself upward, gripping the roof's edge. Muscles taut, he pulled himself up, peering through a gap in the crumbling ceiling—

"BANG!"

A gunshot rang out—muffled but unmistakable.

Su Xiao instantly ducked back, clinging to the wall as he cautiously surveyed the scene outside.

"BANG! BANG! BANG—!"

A hail of bullets erupted, the staccato rhythm of a full-blown firefight.

Two factions—dozens on each side—were exchanging gunfire at mid-range.

Their ragged clothing and malnourished frames marked them as fellow Terminal scavengers.

"Tobey! This territory is ours! What's the meaning of this? We're all just trying to survive here!"

As the gunfire momentarily lulled, shouts erupted between the groups.

"Yours? With these fifteen guns, I make the rules now! Once I save enough Berries, I'm taking my crew to sea—then I'll be a real pirate!"

"Rogier, drop your weapons, and maybe I'll let you joi—"

"BANG!"

Another gunshot cut Tobey off mid-sentence, forcing him to duck behind a trash mound.

From his vantage point, Su Xiao caught a glimpse of the speaker—a hulking, bearded man with a vicious grin. Clearly, his offer of surrender was a blatant lie.

Unlike the emaciated scavengers, Tobey was built like a bull, his muscles coiled beneath grime-streaked skin.

A grim realization settled over Su Xiao.

This was the reality of an LV.6 world.

Had he charged out blindly earlier, he'd have been swiss cheese by now. And if this was just the opening act, the real challenges would be far worse.

As he waited for the skirmish to end, a nimble figure suddenly dropped into the room from above.

"Phew… finally somewhere saf—"

The intruder froze mid-sentence, spotting Su Xiao clinging to the wall like a spider.

"Uh…"

Before they could explain, Su Xiao let go.

He landed in a crouch, then exploded forward, his body uncoiling like a spring. Dead leaves scattered as he closed the distance in a heartbeat.

The stranger—realizing too late—tried to speak, but Su Xiao's fist slammed into their abdomen, sinking deep enough to dent flesh.

A choked gasp escaped as the figure doubled over—only for Su Xiao's palm to clamp over their mouth, muffling the sound.

Not letting up, he swiftly jabbed two fingers into their sternum.

"THUD."

The distinctive hollow thump of a solar plexus strike echoed through the room.

The stranger's body went limp, their eyes widening in panic as they crumpled to the ground, barely able to whimper.

"A woman?"

Su Xiao hadn't taken chances—without knowing friend from foe, neutralizing first was the only option.

"P-please… don't hurt me…"

The voice was faint, barely audible.

Up close, he could see her clearly: choppy black hair, a face smeared with dirt yet pale underneath, oversized hemp clothing draping a frail frame.

No older than sixteen.

"Who are you?"

Her motive was obvious—seeking refuge from the gunfight.

"M-Mia… I didn't mean any harm…"

The girl—Mia—spoke in a whisper, still winded from the strike to her diaphragm. That she hadn't passed out already spoke volumes about this world's inhuman physiques.

"Stay quiet. Or I'll kill you."

Su Xiao wasn't bluffing. With unfinished vengeance driving him, he'd eliminate any threat without hesitation.

Mia gulped.

"O-okay… I just needed shelter…"

A chilling thought struck her: This man might be more dangerous than the bullets outside.
