Chapter 6 - CH - 5 A past that hurts

The next morning, Kabir stood near the hallway, waiting.

He saw Meera coming down the stairs slowly—her cheeks still red, eyes puffy from crying all night. She looked weak, tired, and completely silent.

Kabir's heart ached. He had never felt this way before. Seeing the one person he loved looking at him with so much hate—it crushed him.

Trying to lighten the mood, he smiled a little and said softly:

> Kabir: "Good morning, cutie. Did you sleep well?"

Meera just nodded without looking at him. She sat down quietly and had her breakfast without saying a word. The silence between them was loud, but Kabir didn't push her.

After breakfast, Meera went to the car parking area to leave for college. She was surprised to see Kabir already standing there beside the car.

> Meera: "You…?"

> Kabir: "Ayaan told me you don't like going to college with so many bodyguards. Is that true?"

She nodded again. No words, just a simple nod.

Kabir folded his arms and said:

> Kabir: "Okay then. From now on, only Ayaan will drop you to college. But promise me, you'll stay with him. No sneaking away. No drama."

> Meera: "Okay."

She turned and got into the car. Kabir watched her leave with quiet eyes.

Outside College

Ayaan dropped Meera near the entrance.

> Ayaan: "Bye, bhabhi. Call me when you're done."

Meera nodded and stepped out. As she walked through the college gates, suddenly—

A hand pulled her back gently by the wrist.

She gasped.

The next moment, she was hugged tightly around her waist.

> ???: "Meera!"

She turned in shock.

> Meera: "Ansh!?!"

Standing in front of her was her childhood friend, Ansh, who she hadn't seen in years.

His eyes sparkled, full of surprise and happiness.

> Ansh: "Where have you been? You just disappeared. And what's this I hear about marriage? Is it true?"

Meera stepped back, her heart racing.

She didn't know what to say.

Because her past… had just walked back into her life.

Ansh looked at Meera, unable to believe his eyes.

> "Meera... it's really you."

She nodded slowly, avoiding eye contact. Her mind was filled with emotions—shock, confusion, and a wave of pain she couldn't hide.

They stepped aside to a quieter spot on the college campus. Ansh's smile faded as he looked at her more closely.

> Ansh: "You're not okay. What happened to you?"

Meera stayed silent.

> Ansh: "You got married? That too to Kabir Oberoi? Why, Meera? You always wanted love, peace… a simple life."

His voice cracked.

> "Do you know how much I loved you? From school till today. And now I hear you were forced into marriage? Meera, let me help you. We'll go to the police. I'll talk to your parents. I'll take you away. Please…"

But Meera took a deep breath, stepped back, and her eyes filled with fresh tears.

> Meera: "No, Ansh. Please… just go."

> Ansh: "What?"

> Meera (shaking): "You don't know Kabir. He's powerful. Dangerous. If he even finds out you're talking to me like this, he'll destroy you. I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me."

Ansh's face fell. His hands trembled.

> Ansh: "You're not happy, Meera. I can see it in your eyes. You don't deserve this pain."

> Meera (whispering): "No one deserves this. But I'm stuck now. Just... forget me. Please."

Ansh looked like his heart had shattered into a thousand pieces. He took a step forward—but Meera turned and walked away, her tears falling quietly.

---

From a distance, Ayaan had seen the two talking.

He called Kabir the moment he noticed Meera wiping her tears.

> Ayaan (on call): "Boss… something happened at college. Meera met someone. Her childhood friend. And... she cried."

Kabir's grip on his phone tightened.

> Kabir: "Find out everything about him."

Because Kabir Oberoi wasn't just fighting for Meera's love now—

He was preparing to fight her past.
