Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Fire Attribute Immunity

Chapter 6: Fire Attribute Immunity

"I haven't seen a fire-type martial soul with such fine control even at Blazefire Academy. Is this the power of innate full soul power?"

Su Ling'er, a top graduate of Blazefire Academy, was the most knowledgeable person here when it came to fire attribute martial souls. This was her first time witnessing such a unique one.

Blazefire Academy was one of the renowned Five Elemental Academies. It only admitted those with fire-type martial souls. There, you could see every kind of fire soul master.

If someone like Su Ling'er, who graduated from Blazefire Academy, praised this martial soul, it was clear just how powerful it was.

"Mother, after summoning my martial soul, I can't feel the heat from the flames. Is that normal?" Quan Yi asked, puzzled.

He had already noticed this oddity during his initial awakening, but now he was sure—once he summoned his martial soul, he no longer felt the searing sensation from the flames.

Su Ling'er replied, "That's normal. Your own flames can't hurt you. Like this—"

"Sunflame Lion, possession!"

Red light surged from Su Ling'er's body. Her height visibly increased, her eyes turned into sharp beast-like pupils, and her hands morphed into lion claws. A powerful beastly aura swept through the air.

She raised her right hand, forming a fireball in her palm. Though small, it radiated an intense, pure white glow—like a tiny sun.

"Ling'er, your flames have gotten stronger," Quan Yue remarked in awe.

Pleased by his compliment, Su Ling'er proudly said, "Of course. I haven't slacked off in my soul power cultivation all these years."

Su Ling'er was a naturally gifted soul master. She had never slacked in her cultivation, and in the last four years, Quan Yi's influence had made her even more diligent. As a result, her strength had risen steadily.

At that moment, Quan Yi stared blankly at the fireball in her hand.

"Mother, I still don't feel any heat from the flames," he said in confusion. Whenever he summoned his martial soul, a strange sensation overtook him.

The entire world seemed to grow cool. His skin and senses became exceptionally sharp, allowing him to clearly perceive changes in the flames—but there was no heat. The counterintuitive feeling made Quan Yi very uneasy.

"That's impossible. The flames of my Sunflame Lion can melt ordinary metal the moment they touch it. Even fire-type soul masters with fire resistance can't be completely immune to the heat," Su Ling'er said in disbelief.

Seeing she didn't believe him, Quan Yi dispelled his martial soul from his left hand and reached toward the tiny sun-like flame.

Startled, Su Ling'er immediately pulled the flame back. "Xiao Yi, what are you doing? This isn't something to mess around with!"

"Let me try, Mother. I really don't feel any heat—I only sense a cool sensation," Quan Yi replied firmly.

Staring at his serious expression, Su Ling'er realized he wasn't lying. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind.

She reignited a flame, this time much smaller, and less intense—like a candle's flicker.

"I've lowered the flame's temperature. Bring your hand closer, but if you feel any heat at all, pull it back immediately. Understand?" she instructed cautiously.

"Ling'er, isn't this a little too dangerous?" Quan Yue asked nervously.

"It's fine. I've already lowered the temperature. Even if it burns him slightly, it won't cause any real harm," Su Ling'er assured, then turned back to Quan Yi. "Ready?"

Quan Yi nodded to signal he was.

He slowly brought his left hand closer.

Quan Yue and Su Ling'er focused all their attention.

In no time, Quan Yi's hand was right next to the flame. Normally, he should've felt heat by now—but still, he felt nothing. Taking a deep breath, he boldly placed his hand directly into the flame.

"Mother, I still can't feel anything. You can increase the flame's intensity now," Quan Yi said calmly. He could sense the flame's movement and changes, but unlike his own fire, he couldn't control it with his mind.

Seeing this, Su Ling'er couldn't suppress the upward curve of her lips. She slowly raised the flame's heat. Still, Quan Yi remained unfazed. Eventually, the flame returned to its intense, sun-like white glow.

Growing bolder, Quan Yi opened his palm and gently held the fireball from below—as if cradling the sun.

Witnessing this miraculous scene, Su Ling'er's suspicions were confirmed. She exclaimed in excitement:

"Fire Immunity! This is fire attribute immunity! This is a power above all fire-type soul masters. In front of you, none of them stand a chance."

"Fire control, fire immunity, and innate full soul power—this is the dream of every fire-type soul master. Your martial soul is destined to become the emperor of flames!"

Su Ling'er was overwhelmed with joy. Quan Yi had brought so many surprises that she even began to wonder if she was dreaming.

Quan Yi was equally thrilled. A powerful martial soul meant he could grow much stronger. In the world of Douluo, power was everything.

At the same time, Quan Yi reminded himself that he was still weak. He couldn't afford to get arrogant—his journey as a soul master had only just begun.

Meanwhile, Quan Yue had been quietly observing Quan Yi's martial soul, carefully comparing it to his own.

While his understanding of fire attributes wasn't as deep, he was extremely knowledgeable about gauntlet-type weapons. So his attention was focused on the gauntlet itself.

He noticed that Quan Yi's martial soul was quite different from his own Black Iron Gauntlet. Quan Yi's gauntlet fit the hand and forearm more closely and was thinner overall. His own gauntlets were bulkier, with thicker plates.

This suggested that Quan Yi's gauntlet would offer better flexibility, but its defense might be slightly weaker compared to the Black Iron Gauntlet.

"Xiao Yi, aside from the fire element, don't ignore the martial soul's physical strength. As a tool-type martial soul, its quality matters too. May I test its physical properties?"

Quan Yue hadn't been blinded by the flame's brilliance—he remained calm and objective, examining Quan Yi's martial soul with a critical eye.

He held Quan Yi's gauntlet, gently lifting and weighing it, pressing on different parts with his fingers to test its weight and hardness.

"As expected of an innate full soul power martial soul—the hardness is extremely high, but it's light and flexible. For a gauntlet, this is nearly perfect. Also, if you focus your mind on your hands, you should feel something different."

Quan Yi summoned the left-hand gauntlet again, closed his eyes, and concentrated on his hands.

"Yes, Father. My hands feel more nimble."

He began rapidly moving his fingers—folding his left hand from thumb to pinky, and his right hand from pinky to thumb—performing mirror-opposite movements with both hands.

Just like with his flame control, Quan Yi felt like he could move his hands freely with just his mind.

"Isn't this... ambidextrous combat?" Quan Yi thought in amazement.
