Case 2,
The Pale "Ghost",
Hajime's POV
Before I could enter my body, I looked at the guy who suddenly popped out of nowhere. He was the guy with the police last time. Did he come for me?!
"You're..." he awkwardly stared at me.
How did all came to this?! I was just breaking a few laws, but how the hell can he see me?! Are all the people in this place can see ghosts?!
*A few events before*
I stared at the table in front of me. Out of boredom, I didn't notice the bread slowly disappearing because I ate them one by one.
A long sigh left my mouth, "I think I should get some," I stood up, but froze for a few seconds.
What if the police sees me? It seems like they got wary of me since I came out this morning. Whatever! I'm going!
I took my scarf and went for the door, sure about my plans. I guess once wouldn't be a problem. I sighed once more.
A deep breath escaped me, this time. Slowly, my body fell off and my spirit's the only one left standing. Hesitant, I still went out and went to the nearest convenience store I could find.
I stared awkwardly to the lady working in front of me in the counter, hesitant to put down the money to pay. What should I do?! She can't see me, and it'd be wierd if she sees money floating into the counter. She might even quit her job.
She doesn't look like the type to be scared of ghost so it's probably okay. She has the black hair with a few purple highlights giving off the bad girl vibes. Not to mention three piercings on her left ear and two on the other ear. One small frown and she can make her costumer pee their pants.
What now? Should I put the money once and run away? At least I paid, right? Oh my god, I think I'm regretting it.
Okay. Put the money, leave like a ghost. Wait. I am a ghost? Whaaaa! Whatever! I went and shoved the money abruptly into the counter making her divert her gaze from shock.
She stared at the counter for a few seconds before scanning the place if there were traces of anyone, but unfortunately, she found none.
"Geez, maybe the rumors of ghost here was true," she swallowed her saliva, can't stop looking for the one that left the money. I think I went overboard, she's not as tough as expected, hehe.
It's getting darker and darker, I better head out for dinner. Those tombstones everywhere is creeping me out, to be true. Well, I'm not really a ghost, I also get scared, you know. Besides, those were beyond my comprehension! Those were tombstones! TOMBSTONES! What if they turn into zombies at night and cause an apocalypse?!
I brushed off the thoughts and went straight to my home, who knows what kind of danger lurks at this city.
Stealthy, I walked back into the house and tiptoed towards the door to get my body, when someone spoke from nowhere.
*Present*
"You're..." I gulped, "You're a doppelganger! Y-You're behind all of this! You're using that kid as an scapegoat!" My mind went blank for a few seconds.
I don't care if he can see me or not, this guy is an idiot!
"Sorry, I only understood the 'You'res'," he looked at me, greatly offended
"You...! You're an idiot!" Four. It's the fourth time he said that.
"You're the idiot here. Now, go home and take your medicine, you might be drunk," I shooed him away.
"I don't drink, you can't fool me with your cheap excuses," this guy's hopeless, "So... C-can you transform into anything? Like a sexy lady with a big breast?! You're a doppelganger, right? RIGHT?"
"I've seen countless idiots in this world, and from experience, you might be their god," I facepalmed myself from the secondhand embarrassment.
"G-god? You have a keen eye! I am indeed a great person, you can compare my powers to a God!". He boasted, proud of himself and all. God, this guy's hopeless. He has the face, but not the brains.
"Well then..." I sighed, ready to return to my body.
"W-wait! Where do you think you're going?! You're under arrest!" Abruptly, he went for my hand, not planning to let go.
"Can ghost get imprisoned? I don't remember anyone writing laws about that," his hand loosened.
"You have a point. Well then, I just have to exorcise you to solve the matter," he smiled cunningly.
His smile might be his form of intimidating me or making fun of me, but it hits different. Fear crept into my entire system by just a simple statement.
Golden hair, yellow eyes, an unfamiliar white uniform with a pocket in the left chest with colorful golden thick intricate designs on edges—in the nape, shoulders, pocket's edges and some seams. Too bad his face doesn't complement with his brains.
For a second, I was silenced from fear, not from him entirely, but by a certain part of him. He wasn't scary, but somehow, a piece of him is. Something's telling me getting involved with this guy is something I shouldn't do.
From his cunning smile, it changed back into his usual playful one, "But still, it's the first time I've seen a doppelganger in my lifetime. This is rare!" he kept ln nodding to himself, "Okay, instead of exorcising you, you have to be my lab rat! I'll come pick you up tomorrow, it's getting late."
I was about to open my mouth when he sticked something into my clothes and waved farewell before disappearing into the darkness. What in the world did I just experienced? Must be an escaped patient in the mental hospital.
Leaving no traces, I shrugged and went back into my body and finished my works. I swear, I kept the bread unscathed and my house as clean as possible. Checked the water's purity, dusted the dusty places and organized my small things. It may not look like it, but I'm actually from a rich family, so I behave like one, although I don't know if I call us a "Family".
Once more, I sighed in relief after finishing my work. Now it's all done, I can finally relax.
My faint footsteps echoed with the help of the creaking wooden door as I approach the broken mirror on the wall. It's been four days, and I feel like I belong here, not positively, but the opposite.
"Looking back, a lot has happened, right?" I stared at the glass, slowly tracing the cracks with my bare fingers, no caring about the possible pain or wounds.
Memories came flooding in—unwanted or not. Voices repeats, supposedly great memories were just nowhere to be found. My mind went blank after hearing them. It wasn't here, it's vibrating from inside me, and I don't know how to silence them.
"You're not our son! You're a monster!" A voice of an adult lady echoed through the room. I slowly cowered and covered my ears.
"Disgusting! He's a monster!"
"We don't want to play with you! Daddy said your a monster!"
"Is that the Muno's heir? They might be in vain for having a cursed child!"
"I didn't do anything! I never wanted this! I...I..." The words kept echoing, but for some reason, it suddenly stopped. I don't know if it's because my ears went numb from the voices, but I felt relief.
Shaking, I stood up. There was nowhere. Yes, there was nowhere here, not until the room went dark.
Once again, fear crept into my whole system. The voices weren't there, but something different's here. The words weren't heard, but red, scary writing appeared in the room like some kind of unseen being was writing them. It was crimson red like blood and it even dripped down so realistically.
Moments after, my body started walking backwards. It was from my instincts as many scary shadows stretched out, seemingly out for me.
I hit the wall. There's nowhere to run. I can utter a word, letting the shadows stretch out their hands towards me. Every single strand of my hair stood up from the fear. My heart's racing and my body's all numb all over. I can feel myself heating up in the moment, lost in the eyes of the scary shadows, too terrified to even let my brain function.
One moment was all it took and I was swallowed by darkness. It was no uncomfortable, yet it was soothing and feels like home. I can't see anything as if my eyelids were shut, not when a speck of light appeared from the sky.
It was small and looked fragile, but the moment I covered my eyes from the bright light, it became stronger, shining through the whole place.
I opened my eyes. I was asleep, and I slept on the table. There were no traces of last night—no markings on the walls and all, as if nothing really happened. Maybe nothing really happened.
It was already 10 o'clock and I overslept. The house was still clean, and I don't know when the classes will continue, but I know for sure, I'll die from loneliness, I swear.
My moment of silence broke onto pieces when someone knocked that the door. Who could possibly knock right now? Don't tell me it's the Fvcked up Munos?
"Hello is someone home?" A familiar voice came up. I think I've heard it before, I just can't remember who is it.
I stealthy walked to the door and twisted the rusted knob, when a familiar face came up.
"You're..."
