It was the day of the exam. I made my way to the arena, and it was roaring with people. It was deafening. In the center of the arena, dozens of candidates sat down waiting for instructions. Two stood out; it was obvious they had honed their Ka. I could tell from afar. As I looked up from the middle of the arena, 5 towering thrones were above us. One for each captain. They were Medjay captains. The role of the Medjay is to monitor dimensions and make sure everyone is safe. Doing what the gods are too lazy to do. It was clear, however, that every Medjay captain was on a different level from all the participants. But then suddenly, an intimidating voice exclaimed
"Welcome to the Medjay exam. Today, you will be showing off your skills in the hopes of becoming a Medjay. This is not a written exam nor a lesson; it is a selection. It is what determines who is strong and who is weak. You will fight with all your might, and if you are worthy. You will be chosen by one of us 5 Medjay captains." I could tell he was the strongest captain out of all of them. The earth shook with every word he spoke. "Now get ready, when your name is called out, please make your way to the center of the fighting arena." As he said that all of the participants made their way to the training room. While I was waiting for my name, I remembered what I came here for. Revenge.

The day I last heard my mother's laughter was the day I was reborn. After eating dinner with her and spending the rest of the day with her. I went to bed; however, in the middle of the night, a loud shriek woke me up. I was only 8, so it was typical that I went to check the scream cautiously. I made my way to the kitchen, the place where the scream came from. As I stood from afar, I saw my worst fear.
"MOTHERRRRR," I screamed in tears. The person who took care of me my entire life was lying on the ground with 7 stab marks. As she bled out in my arms, I could only think of one thing. Rage.
"Asahi.....find out who you are." Those were her last words as her lifeless body dropped to the ground in front of me. I looked around the house for anyone until I saw a dim light brimming from afar. The type of light that gives hope. However, right here in this moment, all I felt was despair. I screamed at the light.
"WHOEVER YOU ARE. I WILL KILL YOU," As I fell to my knees crying. But suddenly my tears started disappearing, and my entire body was caught in flames. My Ka had finally awakened. It took the form of a flame, condemning everything around it.
Present Day
A light tap on my shoulder woke me up from my daydreaming. A messy white-haired figure with red eyes appeared in front of me.
"Sleeping before the exam? You're bold." He said, chuckling. I paid no attention to him until he said, "I'm Yuki. You?"
"Asahi," I replied
"I reckon we'll make great friends," He said. He was one of the two people who caught my attention. "So what power has your Ka taken the form of?"
