Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : Dreams

St. Joseph High School — a place filled with teenagers, dreams, and restless fantasies. The students here weren't quite children anymore, but they hadn't yet stepped into adulthood either. Among them was Maya, a hardworking student in her final year. With board exams just a few months away, the pressure was mounting.

Maya loved badminton. She wasn't just good at it, she was exceptional. But despite her passion, she spent her days buried in textbooks, preparing endlessly to meet the expectations of her parents.

One evening, exhausted after a full day of studying, Maya finally gathered the courage to speak her heart.

"I want to become a badminton player," she said, eyes shining with passion.

BOOM!

Everything shattered right there.

Her parents didn't even look up from what they were doing. "Focus on your studies," her father said flatly. "Sports are just a hobby. Get good marks in your exams."

Confused and disheartened, Maya quietly nodded. She was confused and didn't Argued.

But she wasn't alone in this silent surrender.

Veer, the most talented artist in the school, dreamed of becoming a professional artist. His sketches were so good that even teachers saved them. But his parents had other plans—they wanted an engineer in the family.

Ray had a voice that could silence an entire auditorium. He loved singing more than anything else. But the endless loop of coaching classes, entrance exams, and the suffocating pressure to "become something respectable" dragged him down too.

This situation is faced by almost every average Asian student—crushed between dreams and expectations of parents.

When the final exams arrived, every student gave their best. Maya topped the school. Everyone celebrated. Her relatives showered praise. Neighbors dropped by to congratulate her parents. She smiled through it all. But deep down, she knew—those good grades were going to destroy her dream.

As expected, her parents chose science for her. She was pushed toward medical school. She ended up landing in a medical school.

Veer passed too, and just like Maya, his future was decided. His parents had already enrolled him in an engineering coaching class. Drawing? "Waste of time," they said.

But life gave Veer a final spark of hope. A letter arrived inviting him to compete in a national-level art competition—the one he had spent seven months preparing for.

He thought, Maybe if I show them how important this is, his parents will may understand.

But they didn't.

"You're not going," his mother said. "You have better things to do."

Veer's heart broke. Tears streamed down his face. He pleaded with them, voice trembling, swollen eyes barely able to open. But their answer remained the same: no.

All they wanted was the title—"Our son is an engineer."

That night, unable to take it anymore, Veer made a decision. He wouldn't let his dreams die. If they wouldn't let him live as an artist, he'd leave and live as one anyway. He packed a small bag and ran away from home.

Ray wasn't as brave. His parents told him to forget music and study law. He obeyed, silently, hopelessly.

Besides, Maya ray and veer are best

.

These three were just a few among thousands Highschoolers. Every year, across countless Asian households, passions are dismissed like foolish daydreams. The rarest thing is a parent who listens—who actually wants to know what their child loves.

And for many, that rejection becomes a scar that lasts a lifetime. Not every 16-year-old has the courage to run away. Most give up. They end up with degrees they never wanted, stuck in 9-to-9 jobs.

A secret,

Maya, Veer, and Ray made a bet back in their high school, one that never faded.

Who will become a millionaire first—by following their own dream?"

Five years later, that bet is about to be tested.
