Chapter 1 - [1]

I wrap my arms around a corpse. This corpse wasn't any random stranger, it was my childhood friend. I wish I could've shown up sooner. I wish I could've been there to save her.

The surroundings are engulfed in debris and fire. Dust flaring in the air, coating my lungs.

'It's difficult to breathe...'

With no options left for me, I set her down, my beloved childhood friend, Ashly.

I had no choice but to regroup with the others, fight the continuous hordes of monsters approaching us. Looking back, all I can see are the fragments and destruction of what I had once loved, now gone forever.

[Event: 5 Years Later.]

These words are engrained in my head, unable to concentrate or ignore it, I simply imagine it in my head. These words, these memories, what does it all mean?

'Am I imagining things...?'

Looking to my right inside of the classroom, I see my childhood friend, Ashly. There's nothing off about her, she looks like she does every other day.

That only brings me to question myself more,

'Why did I imagine that?'

Maybe I had some unintentional hatred about Ashly that resulted in me creating a scenario where an apocalypse to happen. But, I don't recall me hating her in the slightest, nor did the me in the scenario seem to be happy, if anything, He was sad.

Shaking off the lingering feeling of my head throbbing, I focus on the class and move forward with my day.

I would say this school that I'm in is quite special. Years ago, this world was supposed to head towards a world filled with technological advancements. Not only did technology arise, but something else was born.

Currently, it was 2074. In 2056, the world saw the upsurgence of a new found energy. Tracing this energy back to the creation of the universe, Earth's scientists decided to cultivate it and harbor it for the development of Earth.

The successful cultivation of this new found energy was marked as a global event in 2066. With a team of scientists successfully cultivating this energy, they had proclaimed this energy to be known as, Black Matter.

With the successful utilization of Black Matter being incorporated into modern society, people saw spikes in renewable energy and further changed the current state of technology and the world.

Now and days, schools focus more on the matter of Black Energy more than ever. Because recent studies had found that Black Matter isn't just a source of energy but a type of supplementary source, they had implemented it into daily activities.

People had managed to incorporate Black Matter into physical workouts, infrastructure for buildings, and weapons.

All other material used had become obsolete as Black Matter was both harmless and highly efficient.

And so, I currently attend one of the schools that focuses its research on Black Matter to see if there was more to it than the eye meets.

Needless to say, I am also researching on the usages of black matter, more specifically weapons.

There are multiple instances where people enroll in the weapon course but is unable to be accepted due to the limited capacity.

I was lucky enough to get enrolled into it and learn more about Black Matter and weapon creation.

Ashly, similar to me is enrolled in a Black Matter course, instead of weapons, she chose physics.

As far as I understand, physics just tries to comprehend Black Matter and understands how far it can be used, what it can be used for, and how to properly use it in day to day life.

In my opinion, I think weapons is far cooler in comparison to physics.

As I'm walking towards my dormitory, I notice Ashly and approach her.

She seems to be conversating with her group of friends but I pay no mind to them and just greet Ashly.

"Yo, what's up Ashly?" Although it feels awkward to join a group of strangers, I still make the time out of the day to talk to Ashly, for several reasons I cannot state of course.

"Hey, did you have any tough classes so far?" Recalling the classes, I don't think they're difficult, more or less challenging but that's what learning is.

"Nah, just some new stuff to go over. The usual."

"I see, me and my friends have to go somewhere, catch you later." Ashly says as she strolls away with her group of friends. Feeling left out but not overly attached to the moment, I move forward towards my dorm.

It's not exactly wrong to say that I was a loner in this school. Like many others, I find it difficult to interact with many, leaving myself to delve into studying, learning, and creation.

Since weapons is my course, I obvious get to draft and create some weapons with Black Matter. Though, It's not easy, it's fun.

My dorm room is quite bleak, not much to look at and not much to see. I continue to change out of my uniform and slip on something more comfortable for me. Entering my laboratory, I start fiddling with some things here and there.

Black Matter is more or less intuitive than technical. There's no specific method to harnessing Black Matter as it's unique from person to person. To me, it's quite easy for me to use it and import it into whatever I desire.

Sitting down, I get to work immediately. I opt in to forge a gun, humanities favorite weapon. The convenience of having a gun on a person, the power it holds, and the usage of it is almost perfect. Adding Black Matter to it, it may achieve perfection.

Forming the grip, the barrel, the trigger, I slowly forge the parts of the gun using Black Matter as the main component, creating an infused metal to create parts for my gun.

Ideally, I think a perfect gun would be small, strong, and concealable. With such a gun boosted by the unlimited power of Black Matter, I think it's needless to say the gun grows along with the person.

With the design in mind I slowly get to work.
