'Thoughts'

"Talking"

[ Sytem Prompt ]

————————————————————————————————————

"How well do you think Ruby's doing?"

"Um...well?"

"You have forsaken her"

"Oh don't be dramatic. She'll be fine. I bet she's talking to her new friend right now"

Thinking about the explosion earlier Altair was more than sure that it wasn't going great for Ruby. Well at least she had made a friend in Jaune.

"We'll see I guess" Altair said as he took a glance at his surroundings, trying to spot the red robed huntress. "Speaking of which, where is Ruby. The ceremony's about to start"

"Oh there she is. Hey Ruby over here! I saved you a spot!" Yang waved at Ruby who was talking to Jaune. Ruby saw her sister's hand waving at her, relief flashed on her eyes as she was happy to see her sister.

"Oh, hey I'll see you after the ceremony" Ruby quickly left Jaune as she made her way to Yang.

"Hey wait! Sigh— great where am I suppose to find a nice quirky girl to talk to" Dejected Jaune went to join the other students in the auditorium, not noticing a red head looking at him with interest.

Exchanging glances with each other, Altair and Yang fell silent, as Yang looked smugly at him, clearly saying that he had the wrong assumption. Slightly irritated, Altair wryly smiled as he turned to the approaching Ruby.

"Hey Ruby. How's your first day here?" Altair asked, certain that it went badly for her.

' I'll wipe that smug smile on your face '

He silently vowed whilst glancing at Yang. Yang on the other hand remained smug as she curiously listened to Ruby.

"You mean when you both ditched me and I exploded?!" Ruby said crossing her arms, her voice dripping with mild irritation, as she glared at the two.

"huh..." Yang paused as she took a quick glance at Altair who had a smug grin on his face. "Yikes. Melt down already?"

"No! I literally exploded a whole in front of the school!" Ruby narrated, using gestures. "And there was some fire...and I-I think ice?"

Glancing at her boyfriend's smug look, Yang started to feel somewhat anxious, it felt like she was losing somehow.

"Um...Are you being sarcastic?" Yang said with hesitantly, as she silently hoped that it was.

"Ohhh...I wish. I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage. Then she yelled at me—" Ruby continued to narrate, while a white figure slowly creeped up behind her. "And then I sneezed, and exploded, and then she yelled again! And I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yellin–" "You!"

The white figure yelled startling Ruby who jumped into Yang's arms. "Its happening again!" Ruby yelled with fear and discomfort

"Do you know how lucky we are not to get blown off the side of the cliff" The White said with contempt.

"Oh my god, you really exploded" Disbelief dripped from Yang's voice as her eyes wide with shock and concern, looked at Ruby.

With the need to straighten out things, Ruby got off Yang's arms, as she tried to explain herself with urgency.

"It was an accident. It was an accident"

But before she could explain more, a pamphlet was shoved near her face. Confusion wrapped around her head, trying to interpret the meaning of the action.

"Um...what's this?"

"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."

"...uhhhhh?"

"You really wanna start making things up to me?"

"Absolutely?" Ruby said with slight confusion.

White scoffs as she hands over the pamphlet.

"Read this and never speak to me again"

Altair looked at White, and shook his head before speaking. "I apologize on behalf of Ruby here. Though I am compelled to tell you that the handling of Dust must be done with safety precautions"

"Yes that's right. Your point?" White dismissively said with an uninterested expression, as she turned to face Altair. Upon seeing the blindfold on his eyes, her face softened a little, maybe ashamed for dismissing a person with a disability.

"My point is that if precautions were made, and an accident still happened. Then wouldn't it be the transporters fault?"

White's face flushed slightly, maybe embarrassed by the remark, but it was quickly wiped away as her face presented disbelief.

"Are you saying that it's my fault for not properly taking preventive measures?!"

"Yes. Yes I am" Altair said bluntly.

"..." Flabbergasted, White didn't know what to say. Yang on the other hand laughed awkwardly, trying to salvage the situation.

"Maybe you guys got off on the wrong start. Why don't you guys start over and try to be friends?"

Ruby beamed as she nodded. "Good Idea Yang! Hello Weiss, I'm Ruby, wanna hang out?" She said with concerned that Weiss might not want to get acquainted.

"Al you too" With a light encouragement coming from Yang, Altair sighed before offering Weiss a handshake.

"Altair Weiss Abaddon, a pleasure to make your acquaintance" He said calmly.

Faced with two contrasting introductions, Weiss felt pressured. On one hand, she wanted to dismiss the two, but she also wanted to have at least a few acquaintances, plus she somehow shared the same name as the blindfolded individual.

"Weiss. Weiss Schnee" Weiss said begrudgingly, as she shook Altair's hand, and slightly bowed towards Ruby.

"There you see. You guys are already becoming friends!" Yang smiled brightly as she rested her arm over Altair's shoulders. "You guys even have the same name" she said, pointing at Altair and Weiss back and forth.

"Ugh. This does not mean were friends. Acquaintances at best." Weiss bashfully turned her head away.

"Does it mean we can hang out?" Ruby said cautiously, making Weiss turn to her with blank expression on her face.

"Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there." Weiss said, feigning enthusiasm, as she pointed at Jaune in the distance.

"Really!" Ruby said with hope

"No!" Only to be shot down by Weiss' cold attitude.

The feedback coming from the speakers caught their attention. Looking at the stage, they saw Ozpin and Glynda, how was on the side carrying a clipboard.

"I'll...keep this brief" Ozpin grabbed the microphone as he started his speach.

"You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step.

"However, to some, their time here is spent contemplating, for a very important decision. To those individuals, I only have one thing to say. Never forget your humanity."

With that Ozpin left, letting Glynda takeover the microphone, as he discretely glanced at Altair before finally exiting the room.

"You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed."

Glynda then followed as soon as she finished speaking.

"He seems kidna...off?" Yang said quite unsure of how she felt.

"Almost like he wasn't even there" Ruby followed with her own thoughts.

"He must be tired" Altair said as he streched his neck. "Well we must be going now to get ready for later. Farewell for now Ms. Schnee"

Wasting no time he took Yang's hand, who grabbed Ruby, as he led them out to get their stuff from the baggage area.

"I'm a natural blonde you know" From the side Jaune appeared, trying to flirt with Weiss.

Sigh—

Weiss puts her hand to her face in exasperation.

"Oh. How daring of you to read such scandalous materials in a room full of studnets"

————————————————————————————————End.

A/N: I really like the idea of Jaune not being in any teams but is still in Beacon because Ozpin is personally teaching. What do you guys think?
