Shane walked towards her slowly and carefully. As he stood in front of her, her eyes trailed up to his, watching each of his steps until he stood before her, the man from earlier already forgotten.
"You are surely a beautiful sight to see," Shane said in falsely flattering tones, although the words seemed to burn his tongue as he spoke them.
"That's what all men say," Myra replied, not wanting to seem too cheap before the man standing across from her. Was he handsome? No, that wasn't the word. He was fearless. Was he beautiful? Yes, undeniably. Did he intrigue her? Absolutely. But still, she'd be a fool to lay all her cards down for him, especially when he was a new face, one she had never seen, not even in the tabloids, which she rarely read anyway. And that made him seem all the more suspicious.
