All the servants left the room and Sawyer was about to go but Lucius stopped him. "Stay."
Old Sir Reyes held Lucius's hand. "My son." He coughed.
"Dad, I'm here." He squeezed his hand.
"I want a grandchild." He wheezed. "Your mother always wanted to carry your children."
Lucius stiffened and looked away. "Dad, I can't find someone who I want to stay with for the rest of my life. Women are cunning, deceitful and flawed."
"But not all of them are." Old Sir smiled. "Your mother was perfect."
"Dad, I don't want anyone. I am fine on my own." He clenched his free hand. "I don't need some weak, desperate woman clinging onto my fame and wealth like a parasite."
"Assistant Wang, please come in." A black haired man strolled into the room, closed the door and stood beside Sawyer. He bowed and with an expressionless face, he bowed.
"Assistant Wang, take a seat. You too, Sawyer." He commanded.
They obeyed and sat on the floor, along with Lucius.
"Assistant, give Lucius the Book of Debts."
Assistant Wang nodded and handed a big book to Lucius. The Book of Debts was a book used by the Damari family to record debts people owed them.
The Book had been used since Old Sir Reyes 'five times' great-grandfathers and had been useful since then. The Book recorded the debt, cause of debt, date debt was paid, method of payment and punishment given to those who didn't pay.
Among the names listed, was The Vestas. Maude's husband had not payed his debt and it had been seventeen years since his debt was recorded.
Adaeze was Maude's husband and was killed for stealing from The StarDust company. Ordinarily, he should have served a decade or two in prison but, at that time, the previous head of the Damari family was angered and had him killed.
Maude had moved to different countries until she had settled in China.
She was inevitably found and in order to atone, she worked at the company and was paid quarter the fee of an employee who was at her rank.
