The vampires were moved to a building with tinted windows. It was more towards the inland side. The werewolves were given property on the beach side. Both were given jobs based on their particular skill set. I had the room on the top floor since I was designated as the queen. I was introduced to several people. The one that caught my eye was a man in his twenties called Soren. I think he is a thousand years old. He was eager to listen and was fair in judgement. So after some inquiries I found out that his mother was once the queen of the vampires. So I made him next in line for the throne. He thanked me as he went to fix the problems in his coven. There were those that didn't like a half breed being their queen so a few stepped forward and tried to dethrone me. That didn't go well. I forgave them and managed to persuade them to stand down. The rest respected my firmness as I restored order.
The police arrived the next day wanting to know who was joining them. I was the first to step forward. They wanted to know my skills. Since there is no record of me fighting they assume that I should be relegated elsewhere. I was about to say something when the radio crackled saying that a girl was missing. Her father was a cop. I asked to see what she looked like and one of the officers showed it to me for the heck of it. She was seven years old with light brown hair and brown eyes. Approximately two and half feet tall with a light tan. I walked out and extended my senses while the vampires stayed indoors. I found her within sixty seconds. I asked if one of the officers would come with me. I took his hand and zipped to where she was held captive.
There was a slightly older girl as well. They both were screaming for help as a bald fat guy wearing a wornout jersey walked towards them liking his lips. I swooped in and pulled the girls away from the creep. The officer tried to arrest the guy but in the end he had to shoot him. The others were informed and the place was overrun with cops. There were those who stared with awe while others stared with curiosity. I on the other hand was curious about the forensic department. They were using all sorts of chemicals and tools. I thought it would be perfect so I asked to transfer to the forensics. The girl's dad had other ideas. I managed to convince the sheriff before he found out about my skills.
The next day I came to work as an intern. I walked into a room full of disgruntled cops. They were hoping to convince me to be a cop. But I hypnotized the woman in human resources and got my lanyard. I was escorted to a room filled with all sorts of gizmos. Computers and others I can't pronounce. I smelled blood and knew that someone had cut their hand. I found the bloody gauze on a petri dish. I took it and pressed my tongue. I got flashes of his life and in moments I knew the names of everything in the room. I also figured out that he had a crush on a coworker. I was directed towards what appears to be a super computer. I was asked to log new information into the thing so it would come in handy in a moment's notice.
An hour or so later a man wearing military garb walked and introduced himself as Sargeant Raymond Cobb. He put in a request to have me as his partner. I made it clear that I am not going anywhere with him. He can take his request and I was about to say something inappropriate when the Sheriff interrupted me. He said that the law forbids me to work with the soldier. The man walked off with the air of entitlement. I continued the rest of the day peacefully till Adrian arrived with a blood bag.
I took a sip and was transported to a facility that was experimenting with my kind. I walked out the door and ran till I reached the facility. I released them and burned the place to the ground. The men and women arrived in LA and they were grateful for my help. The werewolves and vampires convened to discuss the new terms of truce. Since I showed an indifference to the werewolves and vampires as they were rescued from the lab. Usually the rescue is one-sided. Both sides made it clear that I am off limits. The military arrived an hour later and tried to recruit me. But both sides made it clear that I am exactly where I belong. The negotiations took days but in the end they had to walk out empty handed as the military lost the werewolves as well.
The navy police noticed that the sheriff was trying to convince me to be a detective. I was refusing him as a rule as I learned new stuff. An elderly man with a Marine Corp hairstyle walked in and asked me if I could join him in his pursuit to find the wicked. I told him to take a hike. He asked me to respect my elders. I reminded him how old I was. He looked shocked through and through. His reaction had me almost rolling over the floor laughing. The officer in charge of securing the floor removed him. The sheriff walked in and asked me if I would join him. I obliged his request for lunch and he discussed the terms of my service in the sheriff department. I made it clear that I am enjoying the forensics department for one particular reason. It is educational. I have spent an eternity in a state of fight or flight. This is my first time relaxing so I am going back to fight mode for the next few months. He gave me a look of admiration before he sent me to the lab.
Six months later the sheriff walked in to renegotiate terms of employment. I was escorted to the law enforcement division. I was given a badge, a gun and a uniform. I was told that I will be a rookie officer. I was introduced to my training officer Zain. He was in his twenties with a buff body. Bald head and tattoos all over his arm. He gave me a once over as I walked to hear an ear splitting alarm. I asked if they were reinstating a form of barbarism. Was this alarm a warning for people to hide since there might be a possibility of a shootout. My T.O. said that this alarm signifies zombies. I walked out as the others yelled at me to come indoors. The shutters came down and were locked in position with magnetic and other engineering genius.
The men and women had their noses pressed against the window as I walked the sea of undead. These beasties stepped aside to let me through. I leaned against the pane of glass as I watched as these things were driven to the sea. I was told that the beaches are no longer in use. I asked if these morons could divert these beasties elsewhere. Since they seemed to be given the residents anxiety attacks. The woman in a lab coat said that this was the safest route. The locals made it clear that they want to be able to live in peace. These interruptions are destroying the sanctity of the rebuilding society. The woman gave them a look of contempt as a few men and women snatched the controls and diverted these things towards the mountains. There was a huge hole as a result of the military having done all sorts of blastic testing. The locals cheered as the alarm was officially deactivated.
The scientific community was warned to stay away or next time they will shoot these things and come after them. The woman protested as she was escorted out with the mayor's foot. The military was given a similar warning. The general made it clear that he will not be participating in any sort of zombie nonsense since he has lost many good men and women. The government was relegating the men and women to securing the cities as they rebuilt. They will assist as construction crew and medical aid and security. The general had one request. He wanted his team to be where I was stationed. I was told that I will be part of the group dedicated to patrol so the general assigned eight of his best to tag along. The humans tagged along too. But soon they were dismissed. The zombies that were escorted to the sea turned around and came back to feast. The residents demanded that the scientists who made these monstrosities be taken back and shot.
I was on patrol when I hog word that the house of eternal night was under siege. I turned the vehicle around and got there to see that the barrier had kept these beasties away but the down side was that the sun was going to rise and turn the vampires to ashes. The pain of losing another family member was too unbearable. So I turned into a monster and screamed in agony. The zombies fell to the floor and began to spasm like they were zapped with a thousand volts of electricity. They stopped moving and I waved my hand. Soon the sky was filled with bats. The night turned dark as though the city had experienced a solar eclipse. The police officer gave it all clear and the guarantee that these creeps were dead for good. I learned a new skill. Now I must practice till it feels like it is an extension of my body.
