Danny turned the water to maximum heat before stepping in. The scalding water barely felt lukewarm to him. It was the best he could get after developing his ice core. His core kept his body temperature low, so when the water hit his skin, it evaporated into steam. He took pleasure in the warmth, remembering what it was like to be fully human.
It's not that he disliked being half ghost. It was fun flying around and associating with other ghosts. But sometimes he wondered what he had lost. If there was something less human about him.
He laughed darkly. Of course, he was less human. He was only half, now. What that meant, he still wasn't quite sure. It seemed like every week, he discovered something new about being a ghost. He didn't even know what would happen to him when he got older. Would he still age? Would he die eventually? These and many other questions occurred to him on occasion. Showers were a great place to think.
