Chapter 55 - Chapter 54: Heading to Alabasta

Oliver woke up startled and began looking around to see where he was.

"I'm still in the forest... Where did Wapol go?"

He tried to get up, and when he looked to his side, there was a baby Lapahn staring at him.

"Okay, this is a problem."

The Lapahn screamed, alerting the rest of the Lapahns.

"Shit!"

Oliver tried to stand up, but a heavy weight in his body kept him down.

A giant Lapahn arrived, and Oliver feared the worst—but the Lapahn just stared at him.

"This is weird, they should've attacked me already. Could they be the ones Luffy saved?" Oliver wondered as he looked at them. "Wapol, where is he?"

He asked them in case they really were the ones saved by Luffy.

The Lapahn struck a fighting pose, which reminded Oliver of the part in the manga where they saved Luffy.

"Did you guys beat Wapol?" Oliver asked, and the Lapahns nodded. "Ha-ha-ha!"

Oliver started laughing, imagining Wapol getting beaten by all the Lapahns after Oliver had taken down Wapol's two servants.

"Hehehe, he deserved that for being such trash to Chopper."

He stood up and looked at his arm, realizing he could feel it more.

"That's good..."

Oliver left a piece of one of the dinosaurs as a sign of gratitude to the Lapahns for helping him against Wapol, and began walking through the snow, trying to find a village.

"That dream... what was it? Was it even a dream?"

He kept walking, his head still a bit foggy.

"That woman... I don't know her. I don't even know what that was. But then... why did I feel fear?"

He looked at his hand, which was still trembling from remembering that scream.

"My fault?"

Meanwhile, in an old house, a giant rope was found—there was a lift that could take people up to Drum Castle, so several townspeople boarded it along with Dalton, Zoro, Usopp, and Vivi to get to the top and drive Wapol out.

It took them quite a while to arrive, and as they did, they saw something flying off the top of the castle, which made them try to hurry even more.

"I'll go check how things are outside. You guys wait here," said Usopp bravely.

He headed toward the exit, but before he could step out, fear got the better of him, so he turned back and went to find Zoro to have him go first.

"Hey, could you stop pushing me?" said Zoro.

"I'm just trying to motivate you," said Usopp as he kept pushing him.

Then, a voice was heard, and both of them looked up to see Luffy flying straight toward them.

"Zoro and Usopp?" said Luffy before crashing into them.

"What the hell are you doing?!" shouted Zoro angrily.

"I thought you were one of them 'cause you're wearing their clothes. So you climbed all the way up here to see us?" Luffy asked, laughing. "So you really did climb?"

"Are you kidding? For a man like me, that mountain is nothing. Or are you talking about that epic adventure?" said Usopp, ready to start lying.

"We used a lift to get here," said Vivi. "By the way, is Nami-san, Sanji-san, and Oliver-san okay?"

"Yeah, they're fine," said Luffy.

"That's good to hear," said Vivi.

"Though I don't know where Oliver is," said Luffy, scratching his head.

"Huh? You don't know? But he was with you guys," said Vivi.

"Yeah, but he stayed behind so I could carry Nami and Sanji while he fought that king. I didn't hear anything after that. But I guess they got away too, 'cause they still made it here," said Luffy. "So I kicked him out again."

Dalton interrupted when he heard about Wapol.

"So that thing that just went flying—was that Wapol?!" he asked Luffy. "What happened to the other two?"

"Oh! That reindeer took care of them," said Luffy. "Usopp, listen—we've got a new nakama!"

Usopp stopped his lie and looked at him.

"The reindeer handled them?" Dalton asked.

He looked toward one of the trees where Chopper was trying to hide and recognized him from when Doctor Hiriluk died.

"Thank you so much!" said Dalton, bowing his head. "I'm sure now the Drum Kingdom will become a better country."

The citizens saw Chopper and were frightened, as was Usopp, which made Chopper run off.

"Idiot! He's our new nakama!" yelled Luffy at Usopp. "You scared him off! Wait!"

Chopper started running from Luffy, who was chasing after him to get him to join the crew.

Meanwhile, Kureha ordered everyone to bring the injured into the castle, while Nami and Sanji were hiding, trying to figure out how to escape.

"Nami-san, shouldn't we let her treat us?" whispered Sanji.

"Quiet. We have to go. We've already lost two days getting here and we still have to reach Alabasta," Nami whispered back.

"You two need to go inside as well!!" shouted Kureha, breaking through a wall.

Kureha grabbed Nami and Sanji to take them to a room so they could recover.

"Hey, don't you think someone should go look for Oliver-san?" Vivi asked Zoro and Usopp.

"He'll be fine. No way those guys could beat him," said Zoro. "I'm gonna take a nap."

Zoro walked to a tree and began sleeping.

"No need to worry about him. Don't know if you heard, but I trained him," said Usopp, lying again, trying to calm her down a bit.

"Mmmmm… I got lost, even though someone with Natural Finish talent shouldn't get lost."

Oliver was in the forest in the middle of the night after doing a bit of exercise.

"Guess I'll have to climb up."

He was near the mountain, but seeing how steep it was gave him a strange feeling.

"Though climbing up only to have to come back down doesn't really appeal to me."

He looked the other way, toward the sea.

"I think I'll just wait for them at the Going Merry. Let's see how fast I can get there."

With Geppo, he moved at full speed toward the Going Merry, feeling the snow and wind hitting his face.

"This is relaxing."

After a few minutes, he finally reached the shore, so all that was left was to find the Going Merry.

"There it is."

He landed and stretched his legs a bit since Geppo required a lot of leg strength, and he still wasn't perfect at using it.

"And there it is."

He saw the Going Merry and walked over to check the water.

"There you are, Karoo."

Karoo had turned into an ice statue due to the freezing water.

Oliver grabbed Karoo to take him inside and tried lowering his temperature by warming a blanket.

"Mmmm... How long until they get here?"

He began thawing Karoo while lighting the stove to warm up the kitchen.

That's when he heard something arriving, so he stepped out of the kitchen—and there were his nakamas.

"Oi, you finally made it," said Oliver, waving at them.

"Oliver, so this is where you were," said Luffy, running toward the Going Merry.

"Yeah, I fell asleep and then got lost, so I decided to head to the Merry," said Oliver.

"Where's Karoo?" asked Vivi, not seeing him anywhere.

"When I got here, I found him in the freezing water trying to become an ice duck, so he's inside now," said Oliver.

"Karoo!!"

Vivi went inside to check on Karoo, and once everyone was aboard, they set sail.

Once they were far from Drum Kingdom, a party began to celebrate.

"What a great night! Full moon and a cherry blossom tree!"

Everyone was enjoying the party—except for Chopper, who kept looking back at Drum Kingdom.

Everyone was doing their own thing. Usopp and Luffy were trying to hype everyone up, Zoro and Sanji were drinking, Vivi was with Karoo, who was now much warmer, Nami was talking to Chopper, and Oliver was eating.

"Alright everyone! Listen up!" shouted Usopp, blowing a whistle. "For our new nakama, let's throw a party for our Dr. Chopper!"

"HURRAY!"

Everyone raised their mugs to celebrate even harder and head full speed toward Alabasta.
