< Minor Flashback>
After Kael was sent out of the castle, Kain followed him silently from behind, concealed within the shadows cast by the towering trees.
Every cautious step he took was deliberate; he crouched low to the ground, careful to step only on the smooth patches, he expertly avoided broken twigs that might draw Kael's attention. His heart pounded in his chest as he moved, an intoxicating mix of adrenaline and anticipation coursing through his veins.
Kain had set his mind on his plan, and nothing could change his mind; he just needed to find the right place, far from the castle, to carry out his deadly intentions.
He gripped the hilt of the sword he had taken from a palace guard; its felt reassuring in his hand. He also wore a royal charm, a silver ring known only to the royals as a symbol of protection.
