"Mummy! You look so pretty!" Olivia squealed, her tiny legs carrying her across the room in a rush of giggles and excitement.
Her gown sparkled like sunlight on snow, and the little tiara perched on her curls made her look like the tiniest princess in the pack.
I barely had time to brace myself before she launched into my arms, her arms thrown around my waist, face buried in the fabric of my gown.
"Hey…gently, sweetheart!" Ian's mother gasped from behind, her voice sharp with alarm like her heart had nearly leaped out of her chest. "You will wrinkle her dress!"
Yeah, her relationship with mine still ain't smooth but for her garbeaugter and son, she was ready to get things buried especially after Ian woke up.
I didn't mind my little princess wrinkling my dress. My arms wrapped around Olivia just as tightly as hers clung to me. Her warmth, her scent, and the sound of her breath all centered me in a way nothing else could.
