Chapter 196 - Chapter 196: Best Candidate!

Soon after.

Following Finn's strategic arrangements, the two witches finally agreed to stay, along with several Angels, the elder patriarch, and the others.

"Do you think they'll be able to succeed without trouble?"

Wanda watched Finn's back as he departed, murmuring softly to herself, her eyes clouded with concern.

Advancing to investigate the demon faction was incredibly dangerous. Even a minor mishap could erupt into a full-scale war. It wasn't out of the question.

"I don't know yet. But I feel more at ease knowing Finn is going with them. After all, this is a valuable opportunity. If the opposing side invades without warning, we may not even have the chance to fight back."

The Dark Witch spoke calmly, her tone free from overt anxiety despite the grave nature of the situation.

On the contrary, if their mission succeeded, it would be a decisive victory.

"I hope so."

Wanda exhaled softly, her voice tinged with melancholy. Her eyes glistened with deep worry, the kind of sorrowful intensity that mirrored a woman waiting for her beloved to return from war.

At the same time, Finn and the others had already set out. Brice led the group—unsurprisingly. He had engaged in countless battles against the demon faction and understood their behaviors well.

More importantly, the Angels and demons maintained a delicate, volatile distance. To avoid alerting the enemy, the group chose to travel on foot from the start.

Only by doing so could they prevent any premature disturbances that might alert the enemy and unravel the mission.

"It's no easy task getting close to the border of the demon territory, so I brought this."

As he spoke, Brice pulled a cylindrical object from his cloak. It shimmered faintly, radiant and crystalline. Its intricate glow made it appear almost like a solid piece of otherworldly jade.

"What is that?"

Doctor Strange, who had joined the mission, spoke up with curiosity etched across his face.

To him, this object was unlike anything he had encountered. Though he was a Master of the Mystic Arts, the arcane relics from the celestial realms still lay beyond his expertise.

"Teleportation scroll," Brice replied simply.

"Teleportation scroll?"

Strange's eyes widened in disbelief. His voice rose slightly as excitement overtook him. "Are you serious? These are used for retreat!"

Teleportation scrolls, as the name implied, allowed users to teleport anywhere within a 100-kilometer radius. But the cost was steep. Even a single activation consumed vast amounts of magical energy.

Worse still, the location couldn't be precisely chosen—it lacked targeting stability. The scroll could only displace the user within the general range.

Moreover, each teleportation lasted no more than thirty seconds. If the user didn't act fast or re-initiate another teleport, they could end up stranded—or worse, tracked and killed.

That was why teleportation scrolls were largely reserved for emergency escape.

"This isn't just for escaping," Brice said, shaking his head.

He then produced two more scrolls, handing one to Finn and the other to Strange.

"Take good care of these. Remember: once you use it, teleport away immediately—even if you're deep inside enemy territory. If you're captured, the consequences will be unimaginable."

"We understand."

Finn accepted the scroll with solemnity, inhaled deeply, and gripped it tightly with both hands. Closing his eyes, he channeled his spiritual energy into the relic.

Stephen followed suit. They both knew what was at stake.

In an instant, ripples of blue and white light expanded around them, spreading outward before vanishing in a flash.

Finn exhaled slowly as he opened his eyes, then turned toward the dark forest looming ahead. A small, determined smile touched his lips.

"Now, let's keep moving. We haven't completely exited the celestial realm yet—and the demon faction's border is still far away."

Brice's voice rang with anticipation.

"Understood," Strange nodded.

Meanwhile, deep within the demon faction's territory—

A towering structure reached toward the clouds. This was the Demon Spire, a monumental fortress suspended in the air, the highest structure ever built by the demon kind. It served as the throne and symbol of their dominion.

And at its summit sat the Demon King himself, cloaked in shadow, seated upon a throne forged of obsidian and brimstone.

Before him stood an assembly of elite demons, each radiating dread and power. Among them were six manifestations of Mephisto, left and right infernal guards, and countless nine-winged demons—the lowest rank present.

Their collective power darkened the very sky.

"Reporting to the King: After the last battle, our forces sustained heavy losses. The demon general perished as well."

A nine-winged demon stepped forward, his voice grim, his eyes narrowed in solemnity.

"Oh?"

The Demon King's voice was cold. His gaze flickered with murderous intent, and the sky darkened further.

"I didn't expect the Angel faction to harbor such formidable strength. Continuing our assault may only lead to more severe casualties."

He wasn't particularly surprised by the general strength of the Angels. Their reputation preceded them. But what disturbed him most was the hidden force backing them.

That unseen power—one that struck fear even into him—was the true threat.

"Actually... we might know a little about that."

Suddenly, two Mephistos spoke in unison, their voices like echoing shadows.

The room froze. All attention turned to them.

After all, when Mephisto—Hell's trickster, demon lord, and master of manipulation—spoke, everyone listened.

More than one of him had spoken. That meant something dire.

What hidden force had intervened in the last battle? Was it a new supernatural warrior secretly nurtured by the Angels? Was it a divine hybrid? Or had a being from another realm, like one of the Celestials or an Eternal, interfered?

The demons waited, on edge, anticipation crackling in the air.

What secret was lurking behind the Angel faction's recent show of power?

And more importantly—what did Mephisto know that could change the tide of the war?
