"I... actually, we know a thing or two about this matter."
Suddenly, the two Mephistos standing on either side spoke slowly.
Everyone turned to look at them in unison. After all, that was Mephisto who had spoken.
More importantly, they were all looking forward to uncovering the number of secrets involved in this matter.
Could it be that a powerful enemy has truly appeared within the Angel Faction?
Or is it that someone has been secretly nurturing those Angels—beings with considerable strength and potential?
They were equally curious and confused about this point, unable to wait for a definitive answer.
"The last time we went to observe the situation, we discovered that the Angel Faction had recruited several humans from alternate universes," one Mephisto began slowly. "These beings do not fall into the category of gods, yet the power they wield is terrifyingly immense."
"We attempted to kill them, but the strength they revealed was alarming. Even if we joined forces to stop one, we couldn't withstand the offensive they unleashed."
He was fully aware of that individual's capabilities—a resilience even more formidable than the regenerative power of Mephisto's own kind. The man showed no signs of falling.
What baffled him most was the fact that the opponent was human. How could a mere human wield such devastating power?
By their standards, humans were insects—insignificant in the eyes of demonkind.
And yet, the techniques this man demonstrated made their skin crawl.
Had it not been for the concern that this being might further destabilize the balance of realms, they would have exterminated him long ago.
"We all suspected that he might possess the same form of immortality as us," another Mephisto added, his tone grim. "But after extensive analysis, we discovered that wasn't the case at all."
"What do you mean?" someone asked, and everyone leaned in, expressions turning serious.
The Mephisto exhaled slowly and explained, "First off, we're demons. You understand the fundamental distinction between us and lesser beings. If this person truly possessed our kind of immortality, he wouldn't have lasted this long. Unless... his entire body is a special life form—constructed purely of soul matter."
The expressions in the room shifted.
Soul.
To demons, a soul was hardly a concern.
But the existence of a being composed entirely of soul energy was another matter altogether.
The soul is one of the most mysterious components in all of existence, and its functions are both diverse and dangerous.
To think that someone had actually created a soul-based entity—shocking.
"We also discovered something deeply unsettling."
The Mephisto paused before continuing. "From our observations, the soul this human created seems to possess a will of its own."
A thick silence fell across the hall.
A willful soul.
That was a terrifying revelation.
A soul with will—did that mean it could take autonomous action?
If so, the consequences would be catastrophic.
"I believe this human might be connected to those beings mentioned in ancient legends," said another Mephisto suddenly. "The elder Mephistos used to speak of entities that predate the formation of the multiverse—beings whose numbers were vast and whose power could obliterate entire galactic sectors."
"Even we, who were artificially created, were nothing but sustenance in the eyes of those primeval forces."
"Those beings?"
The Mephistos stared at him, stunned.
"Yes," he affirmed with a nod. "Even the ancient Mephisto warned us never to engage with them directly. If encountered, the only recourse was to flee."
Silence reclaimed the room.
They didn't know the full nature of these creatures, but anything that could frighten the ancient Mephistos into issuing such dire warnings had to be unimaginably dangerous.
These entities, it was said, fed on the souls of all living beings.
Should they succeed in their ambitions, entire worlds would be annihilated. Rivers of blood would flood the cosmos.
Thinking of this, a chill crept through them. Fear clawed at the edges of their minds as they contemplated the war to come.
But they soon stifled these emotions.
Now was not the time for fear or hesitation.
These beings were too powerful to confront directly. Their only hope lay with the dark force that stood behind them—the Hell-Lord, the one whom Mephisto answered to.
"Everyone!"
The Demon King at the front suddenly rose, his voice cutting cold through the tension. "Given the strength of this human, what do you believe his goal is?"
All eyes turned back to him.
Clearly, the conversation had unveiled something weighty.
"Their target is likely our demonic empire," Mephisto said solemnly. "I suspect they've learned of our existence—somehow—and now intend to make their move."
"If we don't eliminate them, once they've mastered their powers, we will be next!"
The surrounding demons nodded in grim agreement.
From their last confrontation, it was clear this human's strength vastly exceeded expectations.
Worse, they had no way of gauging his true limits.
What if he still had untapped potential? If he truly did—if he had a trump card hidden away—then their kingdom was doomed.
An oppressive weight settled over the hall.
"So what do we do?"
"Send in the high-ranking demons!"
"Damn it, that bastard had the audacity to challenge us on our own turf. He's signing his own death warrant!"
The Mephistos erupted in fury, shouting over one another.
To them, this human was a fool.
Who dared trespass into the infernal dominion of Hell and lived to tell the tale?
"Hold."
The demon on the throne lifted his hand.
"Our top priority," he said, voice calm but lethal, "is the complete and utter destruction of that human."
Faces darkened across the room.
They all knew who he meant: Finn.
That human was a taboo—an anomaly.
As long as Finn remained alive, they would be under constant threat.
"Everyone, we have two options," the demon declared. "First, summon an army and annihilate that human immediately.
"Second, we regroup and strike the Angel Faction with all we've got. Once they are dismantled, the Tower of Heaven will be ours."
"The choice is yours."
His words fell heavy on the room.
The chaotic energy evaporated. The once-roaring chamber descended into silence.
Each demon looked around at the others.
They despised Finn—wanted nothing more than to tear him limb from limb—but even in their fury, they knew:
That man was dangerous.
Too dangerous.
Rushing in blindly could spell their doom.
In their eyes, Finn was no longer just a man.
He was a living curse—a walking weapon crafted by the unknown.
And under such circumstances, none among them dared provoke such an entity lightly.
