Chapter 111 - The Factory Is Destroyed Before It Even Began

Squeak, squeak, squeak...

Sitting on the carriage they rented, Simon and Lewis took turns steering it, the front too painful to sit on for a long time. "So, why'd you think Duncan asked us to come here? Last time I checked, there wasn't any known civilization here..."

Nodding his head, Sikin agreed with his statement. "Yeah, most of the people who come here tend to settle near the ports. The land nowadays belongs to the beastmen, and man, they are territorial as heck! But either way, it's ju – Oh my Goddess..."

Gawking in awe, Simon saw what could be described as a wet dream for Dwarves:

A complete factory, with pipes of all sizes jutting from here to there, along with abandoned vessels of immense proportions.

A furnace is all that's needed, and I swear, this will be a Dwarf's paradise!

As they got closer to the factory, they began to hear clanking coming from one of the warehouses. Turning around, they saw Titus tapping away on one of its walls, in what seemed like he was testing the integrity of the walls.

"Hmm...is pretty strong I'll give you that."

"So...can it be done?"

"No problemo, it's a-go!"

With an ok sign, Titus gave his approval. Breathing out a sigh of relief, Duncan turned towards the door, where the confused duo stood. "You heard our builder alright. Let's get to making Jaffa cakes!"

"Here's a sample of what the complete assembly system will look like..."

Below Lewis's gaze, a miniature assembly line was created, complete with working nozzles and timed actuators. With a small pull of a lever, the machine was turned on. As the belt began moving, the Dwarf's eyes began gleaming in wonder. This was the first time Simon had seen a fully automated assembly line, and it amazed him to no end.

It was at this moment he realised the wonder of Mechanical Engineering...

Slam!

Without warning, Titus pulled down the lever. With no hesitation, he broke apart the assembly line, eyes grave. "What the fuck on Earth was that for!? Do they know how long it took me to make it!?"

Still pummelling the model into smithereens, the Orc answered back, "2 hours. And you should be glad that I broke it. Divinitatum, or Divine energy, was being felt in the air..."

Arms crossed, Duncan grilled the concerned Orc. "Oh yeah? Well, how did you know? Some Orcish sixth or seventh sense...?"

Without breaking stride, Titus yanked a small long time from his subspace pocket. "Energy sensor. The most important tool in our arsenal from back where I used to work. Can measure the energy levels of any kind that permeates the atmosphere..."

Despite their curiosity being stoked, again and again, they kept their mouths shut. They knew that the old Orc would not spill anything, and it'd be much better for them if they kept their heads intact...

"We must decrease the amount of mechanisation that takes in the assembly line. Can't we use spirits?"

At this point, Duncan's gave grew bright red. "Don't talk to me about those motherfuckers! Ever since those sons of bitches unionised themselves, we can't bloody use them without giving them things like 'free dental support' or 'premium health insurance'. For Illumia's sake, you're fucking pieces of energy that gained sentience! Why'd you need health insurance! If I find that arsehats that gave them the idea of unions, they'll wish they were never born..."

A certain Orc twitched ever so slightly, fear ever so slightly creeping in. "Mhmm, I can...'convince'... our flying friends for a cheaper price. But to do that, I need to go to their homeland..."
