If someone had told A before that a rookie trainer from some backwater town possessed Pokémon at the Elite Four level, A would have beaten them to a pulp. But now, such a person stood right before A's eyes.
Ash, the one who had already captured two of his subordinates in succession. Initially, A had dismissed Ash's victories as mere luck, but now Leader A was finally taking Ash seriously.
"So an Elite Four-level Pokémon... seems I underestimated you. But do you really think this ragtag team of yours can defeat my pseudo-legendaries? Attack!"
With Ash's command, Meowth and the others each found their opponents. Gardevoir directly faced Salamence, Arcanine went up against Kommo-o, Beedrill confronted Tyranitar, Meowth took on Hydreigon, and Rapidash battled Metagross. Chansey found herself facing Garchomp, while Pikachu simply took out a small coin and tossed it towards...
"Pika~Chu, go! (Railgun!?)"
With a massive beam of light, A finally understood what Ash meant by destroying the spaceship.
"Dammit! All hands, abandon ship!"
"What the hell is this Pikachu?!"
"It's a monster, attack!"
*Boom!*
With a massive explosion, A's airship was directly shot down. Meanwhile, the Continental Hotel staff also began letting his own Pokémon join the battle. While they might not be qualified to take on Elite Four members, dealing with A's subordinates was more than enough. A's underlings also released their Pokémon, but it was obvious at a glance that the Pokémon from the Continental Hotel were far more aggressive. As a result, A could only hope his pseudo-legendaries would quickly take down Ash's Pokémon. As for losing? In A's eyes, his Pokémon were pseudo-legendaries. Sure, Ash's Pokémon were at Elite Four level, but compared to pseudo-legendaries, they weren't even fit to lick their boots.
But was that really the case?
As Salamence unleashed a Dragon Pulse—
The attack directly hit Gardevoir, and a triumphant smile appeared on A's face. "That should take care of one already—" But before A could finish speaking, Gardevoir's figure slowly emerged from the dust. She hadn't taken any damage at all.
"How is this possible?! That was my Salamence's Dragon Pulse!"
Seeing A's disbelief, Ash—who was standing nearby with Misty, Suzy, and Lyn—merely glanced at him before continuing to explain the battle situation to the girls.
The Hunter organization had always operated in the Hoenn region, causing trouble. Even A's Kommo-o had been stolen and forcibly controlled from someone else. Therefore, he had no idea that Dragon-type Pokémon actually had a natural counter—the Fairy-type. Moreover, Fairy-types were completely immune to Dragon-type moves. While a significant level gap might allow some damage to be dealt, Ash's Gardevoir was at the Elite Four level! Unlike other Elite Four Pokémon burdened with hidden injuries or unstable after recent promotions, Ash's Pokémon had it much easier. Hidden injuries? Massages and potions were always on hand. Unstable after a breakthrough? No problem—their trainer was practically a master at crafting Rare Candies, ready to feed them until their power stabilized.
Therefore, while Ash's Gardevoir and A's Salamence were both at the Elite Four level, their physical constitutions were completely different—Salamence's Dragon-type moves couldn't possibly harm Ash's Gardevoir.
Gardevoir gathered a multicolored light sphere in her hands. Then, with a gentle flick, she sent the orb rapidly toward the Salamence.
"Salamence, dodge it!"
Though unsure what Gardevoir's attack was, the fact that she had emerged completely unscathed earlier had put A on high alert, prompting him to immediately order Salamence to evade. However, Ash shook his head as he watched A's reaction.
"Ash, what's wrong?"
Misty looked at Ash shaking his head with some confusion, while Ash smiled and explained, "Dodging is useless. The Mischievous Sprite will chase after the enemy's attack."
"Mischievous Sprite?"
Misty muttered the name, still not quite understanding.
"It's my self-created Fairy-type move. If there's time, I can see if any of you can learn it. It'd be good to teach you later. It's very effective against Dragon-types."
While Ash was speaking, the light sphere released by Gardevoir chased after Salamence as if it had a life of its own, then collided with it, causing a violent explosion. Salamence subsequently collapsed onto the ground, and as it lay there... Seeing Salamence lying on the ground, Gardevoir raised several more light spheres.
"Gardevoir!"
*Boom! Boom! Boom!!!*
The poor Salamence was directly bombarded with a barrage of Fairy-type moves, making Ash unable to bear watching and turn away.
"Good heavens, this is too cruel. Gardevoir, hit it one more time to make sure it doesn't have any strength left to stand up and play dead!"
"Gardevoir!" (Yes, darling~)
