King had been gone for two days, not that Leonard asked, well not directly. He had noticed, though, he noticed the silence, the lack of footsteps, the absence of that faint smoke-and-oil smell King always brought in from his rides.
Whenever King disappeared like that, Leonard knew better than to call, the man had his vices, his little escapes, from country roads to the dirt trails. Fights in places that didn't ask questions, and how he handled things that he preferred to be kept unspoken off.
But it bothered Leonard, King didn't ask questions about Xavier, and he wasn't curious, but still, the timing mattered. And Leonard had finally reached the edge of the puzzle, the kind that didn't require bullets or brute force.
Just execution, and perfection and who he needed was King. So he made the call, there were no pleasantries, and no small talk.
"Get back here."
