"Do you think it will change?"
The question hangs in the air, as I dangle the beer bottle between my forefinger and thumb between my legs, chair tilted back, as I look inside the living room. Jude is playing and tackling with Rex on the couch, the two seemingly not ready to admit defeat even to each other.
Jude looks happy right now. Or at least, he is laughing, and that's good enough for now for me. At least he is having fun right now.
"Are you asking the obvious?" Zein snorts as he takes a swing from his bottle. "Of course it will change. If it didn't, I would question it."
"You want it to change?"
"Yeah, man," Zein sighs as he settles back in his chair. "I don't like how shitty things are. I feel like once we cross that debut bridge, shit is going to start making sense. Some clarity will come, and I think that's everything to look forward to."
