The narration begins.
Enter the code to cancel the lock.
Unlike the other consoles the woman found, this console does not have an access port through which she could penetrate the system. She will need the encryption code to unlock it.
The options were:
Find the control override switch.
And the next option was:
Activate the switch.
And she pressed it to shut down the door lock and with it the droids.
The screen displayed
Security override activated
All droids on this level deactivated
Force field on the containment cell door deactivated
"I could have turned off the droids from the console, but I didn't. I should keep training and remembering my skills, and with that, maybe I'll remember my memory," said the Jedi with amnesia, reflecting on why she didn't turn off the droids in the first place.
She ran to the door to open it, now unlocked, to talk to him, captivated on the other side and knowing how he ended up in that place.
"Nice suit. Have the miners changed the uniform regulations in my absence?" I complimented and inquired with a mischievous smile.
"You'd better keep your eyes open and tell me who you are," Surik asked the boy inside the energy cell.
"Atton... Atton Rand. I'm sorry I can't shake your hand, but the field causes slight electric burns when touched," joked the man who had introduced himself to his guest, who had not anticipated his captivity.
"Can you explain why you're locked up?" asked the Jedi without memory doubtfully, not trusting someone in captivity very much.
"Security says I'm violating some rigged rule. Take their side if you want, but you stopped listening to me shortly before you stopped feeding me. That's a crime, though," explained the brown-haired man with a certain mockery and humor about the situation.
"What is this place?" she asked uncertainly, looking at him with interest in what he had to say.
"You mean you didn't come here on purpose? I'm really surprised," said the bewildered captive, wondering how the girl had arrived without her own free will.
"This piece of paradise is the Peragus mining facility, the only supplier of fuel for transport in this corner of the galaxy. Peragus fuel is fatal to engines, but it does the job... as long as you don't mind the toxic waste or the possibility of blowing up when extracting it." He joked, captivating her with a sarcastic and sincere tone about the product they produce where they are now.
"I think I know what happened. I saw a security officer's log earlier that said the planet near this station blew up due to a mining accident," the woman concluded, nodding her head.
"Bingo, you figured out what happened. The asteroid field is still a risk. A high-level risk, if any weapon detonates or touches any of them," Atton explained, somewhat concerned, nodding his head.
"This facility is deserted. What happened?" Meetra asked again, intrigued by what was happening or had happened in this place.
"Before or after that Jedi showed up? Either way, it's a short story. Let's see, that Jedi shows up, and you know what that means. Where there's a Jedi, the Republic is right behind you, hot on the heels of your ion engine, but the story gets better. Some of the miners got it into their thick heads that, since the Jedi is unconscious, they can collect the reward offered by the exchange for live Jedi. Well, the supposed representatives of the law didn't like the idea, and the two groups started fighting, then there was a huge explosion, and I sat here for a long time. Then you showed up in your underwear and things got a lot better. The joker concluded simply to his companion.
"What is the Exchange?" Surik asked, looking doubtfully at the brown-haired man.
"The Exchange is a large criminal organization that operates mainly in Nar Shaddaa: spice and arms trafficking, slave trade... I think now they're putting a price on the heads of the Jedi. Report to Rand as you sit on the floor.
Is there a reward for captured Jedi? Why? Surik asked her, wondering why that was.
- I don't know much about that. Maybe the Exchange wants one as a trophy, or maybe someone has a personal vendetta against the Jedi and wants to make them pay. There aren't many Jedi left. I wouldn't be surprised if the bounty was high. Atton said simply, trying to understand the motivations of that criminal faction.
"There aren't many Jedi left? What exactly happened?" Surik asked doubtfully, raising an eyebrow, intrigued.
- Those who did not die in the Jedi Civil War turned off their lightsabers long ago. It is said that there are no more Jedi, nor is there a Jedi Council, but who knows? He said, crossing his arms uncertainly.
- I had heard rumors of a war, but a war between Jedi? The amnesiac wondered, her head filled with questions.
"If Revan and Malak, as well as the Jedi who joined them in the Mandalorian Wars, turned against the other Jedi and nearly destroyed the galaxy in their fight, Je, where have you been that you don't know about it?" The brown-haired man informed her and joked about the scarcity of Jedi.
"You tell me what happened after that," Meetra said curiously to the possible bandit in captivity.
"Well, I wasn't there, but the Sith Revan and Malak turned against each other. After betraying the Jedi, of course," Rand replied simply to his acquaintance.
"And what happened to Revan after that? The records I saw mention something about a star forge that was destroyed. Do you know anything about that?" she asked again, uncertain about Revan's fate.
"Rumors are flying all over space. What I heard was that Revan ended up badly injured, redeemed herself, had adventures, and finally returned to destroy the star forge, a factory that fed on a star to sustain an endless fleet and empire, as well as to take revenge on Malak for trying to kill her. You know women, don't you? The brown-haired man explained, clearing up his companion's doubts.
Surik suddenly had a flashback to her past when she met Revan, who was mentioned as a woman, and she remembered that he was not a woman, but a man, just like her master.
"Is something wrong, honey?" asked the brown-haired man flirtatiously, somewhat concerned.
"It's nothing," the amnesiac simplified as she looked at the captive.
"How long have you been in that cage? Revan was a man, not a woman; it seems they are confusing who Revan was," Meetra questioned about the information the boy knew.
"Maybe so. I was just hoping he was a woman." The captive said, fantasizing about Revan as an attractive girl.
"This discussion about Revan is pointless. I need to know what happened here." Surik demanded sharply, somewhat tired of this conversation.
"Look, it's not that your half-naked interrogation isn't one of my fantasies, but... Hey, wait a minute. You're the Jedi the miners are talking about. Where is everyone?" Confused by the situation, the flirtatious man concluded to his acquaintance.
"I don't know. I woke up in a Kolto tank in the infirmary, and all I remember is that I was on a frigate called the Herald. By the way, my name is Meetra Surik, or so the people in the records say, where they talk about my genetics being the same as that Jedi's." She concluded, unsure of how she got here herself.
"Then how do you know some things when we talk?" the prisoner asked his new acquaintance.
"I only remember fragments of what happened before I lost my memory," Surik clarified simply, answering the captive's question.
"Wait a minute, are you Metraa Surik? That's why you know that Revan is a man. You are Revan's faithful companion during the wars against the Mandalorians, where many Jedi joined forces, just as you were on Malachor V where they used the shadow mass generator. You are more beautiful than I have been told." The flirtatious captive flattered the Jedi known to many in the galaxy.
Surik knelt and put her hands on her head as she thought about what the boy had said. She could remember the shadow mass generator and the battle on Malachor V, where there had been great devastation.
"Are you okay?" Rand asked worriedly, seeing how his acquaintance looked unwell and in a dazed state.
"You reminded me of who I was in the past. I still have many gaps in my mind, but we'll look into my past more thoroughly now. Stop playing dumb. You must have seen what happened, or at least part of it." The amnesiac demanded angrily, standing up again and looking at the captive.
"From the beautiful views of my cell? Look, I've heard explosions and alarms, I've seen toxic gases coming out of the vents. None of the occupants may have survived what happened. And they're already dead." Hey, look, get me out of here and I'll help you. I can do it, I've gotten out of many before. She explained and offered the chestnut to Surik.
"Tell me what your plan is and we'll go from there," said the chestnut, interested in what her potential friend had to say.
- This isn't just a military facility, so we might have a chance. If you shut down the cell's security field, I can reroute the emergency systems to get to the hangars. Then we'll take a ship and get out of here. He explained his plan, captivating her with a slight smile.
- First, one thing. The nursing patients died from a lethal dose of sedatives. Do you know anything about that? Ask if a possible resident like Atton knew anything about what happened in the infirmary.
-Huh? What are you talking about? He declared, puzzled about what he didn't know about what happened in the infirmary.
- I wanted to know if you knew anything, but you don't. The Jedi said disappointedly, finding no answers about the deaths in the Kolto tanks.
- Are you going to keep interrogating me, or are we going to work together to try to get out of here? Atton asked, somewhat tired of so many questions from Revan's follower.
"I trust you. And if we work together, maybe we can get out of here," Surik concluded, more confident in the prisoner.
"Great, let's get to work. Let's go to the command console," the brown-haired man asked his acquaintance kindly.
"All right, let's go," the brown-haired woman agreed with her comrade as they ran toward the console.
Meetra released the joker and went to the place he said he would go. Once at the console, she entered the access code.
"All right, here we are. The console is in automatic communication mode, you would have heard it when you arrived. But it seems that the external communication antennas to other solar systems have been destroyed. By the way, the asteroid drift charts are constantly updated, so they send transmissions to prevent arriving ships from being crushed. The message warns them to keep their distance until they have the orbital drift charts and provides landing instructions to the ships, usually freighters. The thing is, you can forward the same transmission to the communication center to gain access to the communication system from within. The flirtatious man explained to his companion as he continued to use the computer.
"Pure pazaak: consolation is ours. Now we just have to reactivate the turbo lifts, cancel the emergency one... Eh..." Atton declared doubtfully, but was interrupted by his companion.
"It seems like you're about to tell me something I'm not going to like," Surik complained about the possible bad news her new friend was going to tell her.
"This system has been disconnected from the main mode after being shut down remotely. I can't even redirect the system; they've cut it cleanly," the frustrated brown-haired man explained to the Jedi.
"Isn't that standard procedure in an emergency shutdown?" asked the brown-haired woman, remembering that for some reason she had skills in these matters.
"No. Someone has tried to shut down this entire level to leave us here. We're trapped," replied Atton, worried about who might be responsible for this situation.
"Is there anything else we can do from this console?" Meetra asked, hoping that the computer could be of some use.
"I doubt it. We only have communications, and that's useless with the external communication antennas destroyed," her companion explained simply.
"Can we contact the miners?" suggested the Jedi, giving him ideas of what they could do.
"We can try. But if they intended to trap you here and probably kill you, are we going to call them for a chat? I don't think a friendly call will wake them up," questioned the joker with a mischievous smile at his comrade.
"Let's see if we can contact someone on the communicator," Rand suggested again as he gave her his seat.
"Gladly, there's not much else we can do. It's all yours," the brown-haired man said, leaving the console to Surik.
The Jedi looked at the computer screen and saw the following options
Check administration logs. Access communications systems.
She chose the first option and the following appeared
Log 253-12 [3 days ago]
Log 253-14 [2 days ago]
Log 253-17 [1 day ago]
He accessed log 253-12 from 3 days ago, and a hologram of a dark-skinned man with short black hair, wearing a simple yet elegant uniform, appeared.
- Record 253-12 from Lon Harik, communications chief at the Peragus II mining station, 5 years after the destruction of the Star Forge, stardate 21102 DFR, month 02, day 12, at 08:00 AM, location Peragus II in the Peragus system. We attracted the freighter with a tractor beam... It was lucky not to be destroyed when flying through the asteroid belt. There's not much on board: a damaged droid, another unbearable protocol droid, and many bodies. I sent the survivor to care and the others to storage. We will perform genetic tests on all of them anyway. [He saw interference in the recording and then jumped to a dialogue where he said] He asked the protocol droid what happened. He says that his master, the survivor, I suppose, was on a Republic ship, the Herald, when it suffered engine failure. He says the survivor was a passenger on the ship, and a Jedi. If so, we will have to [He saw interference in the recording]
Log 253-14 PM 3:26 p.m., same location and date as previous entry. This is dangerous. Something or someone destroyed the ships approaching here. I don't want us to leave here. We must be alert. Someone sabotaged the communication antennas. They definitely don't want anyone to know what's happening here, and they want to hunt us down, or so I suspect. [End of recording]
He accessed log 253-14 from two days ago and a hologram of the same man from the previous recording was played.
- Log 253-14 from Lon Harik, communications chief at the Peragus II mining station, 5 years after the destruction of the Star Forge, date of stardate 21102 DFR, month 02 and day 13 at 16:00 PM, location Peragus II in the Peragus system. Inventory of bodies and cargo. Everything matches the protocol droid's story. Genetic testing shows that the body of an elderly woman is Kreia, a Jedi Master, and Meetra Surik, a follower of Revan. How is that possible? How can these two be here? The man reports, confused, shocked that both characters are here.
Log 253-14 PM 5:26 p.m., same location and date as previous entry. Among other things, the T3 droid has jammed, so we left it on standby. I don't know what code is used to access it. It could even be a voice command. The officer suspected, with doubts about the little one.
Log 253-14 PM 18:26 hours, same location and same date as previous entry. We recognized the ship's identification code as the Halcon Ebano, Revan's ship that disappeared about 5 years ago, so we transmitted it to the Republic to report it, but we noticed that the external antennas were sabotaged as well as the spare parts, so we put the protocol droid on maintenance duty, in charge of the communication routines of the mining droids and updating their sensors... And to fail. When the survivor recovers, hopefully we can get them off the station before [Interference at end of recording]
He accessed log 253-17 from 1 day ago and a hologram of the same man from the previous recording was played.
- Log 253-17 from Lon Harik, communications chief at the Peragus II mining station, 5 years after the destruction of the Star Forge, stardate 21102 DFR, month 02, day 14, at 08:00 AM, location Peragus II in the Peragus system, [there was interference] Problems between shifts. Rumors about the Jedi have leaked out and the miners don't know what to do with her. The mining crew wanted us to collect the bounty from the Exchange for the Jedi. The chief said worriedly, seeing that a mutiny could break out.
[Saw interference at the beginning of the recording] Accidents make miners nervous. The droids' behavior cores must be suffering from binary degeneration or something. Two miners were pierced by a droid's mining laser, and shots in the ventilation tunnels nearly blew up the facility. The black-haired man declared himself alarmed by the tense situation as he got up from the holographic recording.
She left the records and spoke to her partner.
"Was it the protocol droid that came with me that caused the station incident? I suspect so," Surik said thoughtfully to her partner.
"You think it's possible, Surik, but it wouldn't be a normal protocol droid," Rand concluded to the brown-haired woman with that question in his mind.
She went back to the console and pressed the option to access communications systems.
She saw communication options and saw two options.
Dormitories.
Hangar 25.
She tried the first option, but there was no response.
She tried the second one and a series of low whistles and beeps sounded. There seems to be a utility droid on the other side.
"Is anyone there? Respond," Meetra asked the possible robot on the other side, waiting to see what it would say.
"Duoooooo...diit? Beep. (Someone there needs my help)," replied the automaton named T3-M4 to Surik on the other side of the communicator.
"Are you operational?" asked the amnesiac, unsure whether the droid was actually working or not.
"Biiii-wiiiit. Biii-diit. (Of course, how can I help?)" asked the little droid to the human.
"We can't get out of the administration level. Can you unlock the turbo ascender?" asked the chestnut to the droid to see if it could get her out of that level.
- Duuu-riip. Bii-whip. (It will be complicated, and I'm not sure I can do it), the little droid replied, unsure if he could do what she was asking.
- You have to find an emergency hatch. Look for one, insisted the Jedi, trying to see if the automaton could find a way to do what she was asking.
- Bii-diiiiit? Duoooop-Biip! (Maybe, but there are many hostile droids and I don't know if I can do it) The little robot questioned the possibility of being destroyed.
- I'd rather take a risk than stay here. I know you can do it. The Jedi encouraged the little automaton to fight against his obstacles.
- Duoooo (I'll try my best, but I can't guarantee anything). The sky-blue droid agreed, unsure of how uncertain his next task would be.
-The end-
