"Did you say something?" Nadia asked, lifting her espresso to her lips.
"Kendrick," Zara whispered just as he reached their table. She forced a smile. "Hey… what are you doing here?"
Kendrick grinned, flashing his screen. "I thought you wanted me to join you."
Zara squinted. Her location was shared—with Nadia… and Kendrick?
"Oh. That was a mistake," she said quickly. "I meant to send it to Nadia."
Kendrick's smile dropped just slightly. "Ah. Got it. Sorry for interrupting."
"No, it's fine. You can stay," Zara said, gesturing to the seat across from her.
He didn't hesitate.
"Good morning, Mr. Campbell," Nadia added, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Morning, Nadia." Kendrick gave her a polite smile.
Somehow, the smile made her stomach swirl.
"I told you just Kendrick was okay," he reminded Nadia with a playful smirk.
She gave an awkward chuckle, brushing her fingers across her cup. "Yeah. I guess I am just not...used to it."
