As it approached eight o'clock, all the comrades had already gathered at the venue for the soirée, but the main male and female protagonists were nowhere to be seen.
Jaxon Dyer was feeling a bit anxious and quietly sneaked out to call Easton Holmes. Once the call connected, he spoke anxiously, "Brother! Where are you and your wife now? All the guys are already here."
Because of his anxiety, his tone became urgent as well.
"Just keep them entertained; we'll be there soon." Easton Holmes said and, without bothering to see if Jaxon Dyer had more to say, he hung up the phone instinctively.
Just as he hung up, he heard Lily Turner's apologetic voice from beside him, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
If she had known earlier that her mom was trying to force her to reconcile with that jerk, she wouldn't have returned, even if it meant getting scolded to death by her mom.
