A short slice-of-life of Mufasa. Enjoy!
-----------------------------------------------
A catastrophe was resolved under Altair's omnipotence.
Her power to rewrite reality was so overwhelming that even those who witnessed it struggled to process what had just happened. The entire battlefield had been restored to its original state, as if the chaos had never even occurred. It was like watching a film rewind itself to the very beginning.
For many, this event was beyond comprehension.
Kabuto's defeat was particularly ironic. The infamous tactician, known for his cunning strategies and manipulation, had been utterly outclassed. His opponent was not just a warrior but a force of nature itself.
In another scenario, Kabuto's White Snake Sage Mode could have rewritten the minds of an entire village, turning them all into his loyal followers without them even realizing it. The sheer psychological warfare he was capable of was terrifying. But against Altair? It was laughable. He never stood a chance.
Of course, Mufasa had no intention of abusing such abilities. As long as the end result was saving people, the means hardly mattered.
Another piece of good news emerged amidst the aftermath.
Kimimaro's terminal illness—something not even Orochimaru could cure—had been completely eradicated thanks to an unexpected phenomenon. His disease had manifested as a Stand, a separate entity that was subsequently destroyed, freeing him from his suffering.
The energy of the Dragon Veins, once chaotic and destructive, had settled into a tranquil, pure state. With stability restored, construction resumed as planned.
Mufasa continued his duties as Kazekage, ensuring that both the Hidden Sand Village and the industrialization of the Land of Wind progressed smoothly.
One month later…
Mufasa was in his office, casually printing documents when his secretary, Kurotsuchi, walked in with a stack of papers in her arms.
He grinned. "Perfect timing. Come here and check out this novel I wrote."
Kurotsuchi blinked in surprise. "Wait… you write novels?"
Mufasa proudly handed her the freshly printed manuscript. "Yup. Sit down and read it. You'll be the first to review it."
Before she could protest, he practically pushed her onto the office sofa, poured her tea, and sat beside her with eager anticipation.
"Come on, tell me what you think. Do you think this can become a bestseller?"
Kurotsuchi hesitantly picked up the manuscript and glanced at the title.
Adventure Story About the Invincible Princess Reincarnated in Another World and Creating a Ninjutsu Civilization
Subtitles:
1. The True God of Ninjutsu: Altair's Tale
2. Re: A Different World From Invincibility
3. Princess of the Wind & Rise of the Brave
4. …
5. …
Kurotsuchi's expression was frozen. (⊙_⊙)
"…What is this ridiculous title?"
Mufasa beamed. "A masterpiece, right?"
She looked at him like he had grown a second head. "My lord, are you serious?"
He nodded. "Of course! It's about how Altair arrived in this world, created Chakra, and laid the foundation for all ninjutsu."
Kurotsuchi started flipping through the pages, her confusion growing.
"This is… short. Like, really short."
Mufasa waved dismissively. "It's a prologue! So? How is it?"
She hesitated. "Do you want the truth or a lie?"
"The truth, obviously."
She took a deep breath. "Alright then. First, the title is awful."
Mufasa frowned. "What's wrong with it?"
"First of all, who told you that titles should have long names? Bestselling books have short, catchy titles. Look at 'Make-Out Paradise,' 'Make-Out Tactics,' 'Make-Out Violence.' Four words! That's how you sell a book!"
Mufasa's eye twitched. "Wait… how do you know so much about those books?"
Kurotsuchi turned red. "I—! I HAVEN'T READ THEM! I just—heard about them! That's it!"
He smirked. "Sure, sure. I believe you."
She quickly changed the topic. "Second, your novel is full of typos and missing words. Did you even proofread it?"
"…I was writing fast."
"Third, your numbers don't make sense. You wrote that an iron sword 120 meters long weighs only three tons. That's physically impossible."
Mufasa coughed awkwardly. "…I might've been sleep-deprived when I wrote that."
"Fourth, your fights are way too short. The protagonist is invincible, sure, but it's boring if every fight ends in a second."
"But that's the point! She's too strong!"
"No! The point of a fight scene is to make it exciting. Suspense! Drama! Struggle! You need to build tension, make the reader feel the stakes. Right now, it's just 'Altair appears, enemy screams, Altair wins.' That's not fun to read."
Mufasa frowned. "But she's a god."
"And? You think gods don't have interesting battles? Look at myths, legends, movies! Even invincible characters have something to struggle with. Conflict is what makes a story good."
Mufasa stroked his chin. "Huh… I guess you have a point."
Kurotsuchi wasn't done. "Also, you don't kill off enough characters."
"…Excuse me?"
"People love revenge arcs, blood feuds, and tragic backstories. If you don't have at least one major death per volume, you're doing it wrong."
Mufasa looked horrified. "That's so dark."
"This is a shonen war story, my lord. You want popularity? You need high stakes."
"…What else?"
She hesitated, then smirked. "If you really want to make it popular, add some romance. A little spice never hurts."
Mufasa narrowed his eyes. "You just want gossip material, don't you?"
After a long pause, Mufasa sighed. "Fine. I'll rewrite it."
Kurotsuchi patted his shoulder. "Good. Now make it readable."
Mufasa groaned as he grabbed his pen.
Writing was harder than he thought.
