"He will never ever accept you!"
The loud angry voice screamed in her ear, raw and guttural. Selene's heart pounded violently in her chest as she tried to pry her eyes open, but they wouldn't budge.
"Why the hell can't I open my eyes?" she yelled, but the sound echoed inside her skull, empty and distant as if she were the only soul left in existence.
She struggled for what felt like minutes, maybe hours, until finally, with a gasp, her eyelids peeled open.
She was in a plain white room.
Lonely. Silent.
She glanced around, but there was nothing, no one,no sound, no movement. Only the deafening thud of her pulse raced rapidly in her ears.
What the hell was going on?
The last thing she remembered was lying in Nikolas' arms, going over the plans for Ivy and Frank's wedding, which, to her complete surprise, was happening the next day.
