The sun dipped low as a gentle silence blanketed the cabin. Inside, Eira, Oliver, and Helena sat together on the sofa, their faces solemn. The tension in the air was thick.
"We don't have much of a choice," Helena said quietly, her voice laced with finality.
Eira offered a faint smile, though sadness clouded her eyes. "It seems so. I've been thinking about taking Edeline with me instead."
Helena nodded slowly. "Yes, that sounds reasonable. You have my permission."
Just then, the front door creaked open. Edward, Charles, and Aclric entered the cabin, the laughter from their return fading as they sensed the atmosphere.
Helena looked up. "Edward, Charles," she said gently, "go pack your things."
Aclric blinked in confusion. Edward and Charles exchanged glances.
"What?" Charles asked. "Us?"
"Yes," Helena confirmed. "And Cassandra as well."
Edward frowned. "But… why? We're fine here."
Eira smiled warmly but with sorrow. "It's time," she said softly.
