Chapter 110 - Traitor

Given?

Except for Izuku's Inherited Quirk, which he took from All Might last year, I had never seen the system flagging anyone with these labels. Izuku's Inherited was the first. Now Aoyama's Given was the second.

I stared at the screen for a second longer, then closed it.

Aoyama wasn't looking at me anymore. His eyes had drifted back to Izuku's window. The usual fake confidence wasn't there. No flashy smile, no dramatic posing. Just a kid standing in the dark, staring at a dorm like he wasn't sure what the hell he was even doing here.

"You are gonna have to explain that," I said.

He stayed quiet.

I exhaled through my nose. "Aoyama."

Nothing.

I tilted my head, looking at him properly. "Who gave you your Quirk?"

His whole body twitched.

Right answer, then.

His hands clenched at his sides, then relaxed. "What would you do if I told you?"

"Depends."

He let out a small, sharp laugh. "You do not trust me."

I didn't say anything.

He nodded like he already knew. "That is fair."

Aoyama turned away from the window, facing me properly. "You are wondering if I am dangerous."

That wasn't a question.

I watched him for a second. "You spying on Izuku?"

"No."

"You reporting to someone?"

"No."

"Then what?"

He exhaled, rubbing his wrist like he was debating something. "I was born Quirkless."

I didn't react.

"Like Izuku."

Still didn't react.

Aoyama looked down at his palm. "But I was weak. I wanted to be special. I wanted to shine." His fingers twitched. "So my parents gave me a Quirk."

I shifted slightly, watching him. "How?"

He hesitated, then shook his head. "It does not matter."

"It does if someone out there is handing out Quirks like party favors."

Aoyama didn't respond.

I narrowed my eyes. "Who?"

He licked his lips, suddenly looking like he wanted to be anywhere but here. "It is not important."

I didn't move. "It is important to me."

He opened his mouth, chickened out. Brain doing laps, but nothing made it to the finish line.

I took a step closer. "Aoyama."

His fingers twitched again. "I cannot."

"Why?"

He swallowed. "Because then you will know."

I frowned. "Know what?"

His breath hitched slightly. "That I am a traitor."

Silence.

Aoyama clenched his jaw, then let out a small, shaky laugh. "You do not look surprised."

I wasn't.

"Who are you working for?"

He flinched.

I let the question sit.

His shoulders trembled slightly. "I did not want this."

"But you took it."

He nodded.

I didn't move. "Who gave it to you?"

He looked up at me. "You already know."

I stayed quiet.

Aoyama let out another laugh, emptier this time. "You are not calling for Aizawa."

"No."

"You are not attacking me."

"No."

He swallowed. "Why?"

"Because I am not stupid."

He exhaled sharply. "That makes one of us."

I tilted my head. "You think I haven't been paying attention?"

Aoyama stayed silent.

"You think I didn't notice how you are always pretending? How you put on a show every damn day like your life depends on it?"

His breath stuttered.

I watched him. "What did they make you do?"

His hands clenched again. "I-"

I grabbed Aoyama by the collar and yanked him off his feet. He barely made a sound before I jumped off the dorm veranda, landing with a dull thud. He stumbled but didn't struggle. Didn't ask questions. Just looked at me with that same vacant, guilty look.

"Fuck this shit," I muttered. "Of fucking course. Can't even go one night without tripping over betrayal."

Aoyama swallowed. "I-"

"Shut up." I started walking. Fast. "Just shut the fuck up."

He followed. Didn't have a choice, really, since I still had a grip on his collar.

The hallways were quiet. Most of the students were asleep. My knuckles were tight, and for good reason. The system wasn't flagging him as hostile, but I didn't need a red fucking warning sign to know he was bad news.

I stopped in front of Aizawa's door and slammed my fist against it.

Nothing.

I hit it again.

Still nothing.

I kicked it. "Wake up!"

I heard a low groan from inside. Then, a shuffle.

The door cracked open, and Aizawa's sleep-deprived face peeked out, hair still a tangled mess. He barely had time to process before I pushed in.

"Call All Might and Nezu. We have a situation."

He didn't blink. Didn't ask questions. Just sighed.

"Why the fuck is Aoyama here?"

"He is the situation."

Aoyama kept his head down, hands curled into the fabric of his pants. He wasn't resisting. Wasn't panicking. Just standing there, like whatever came next wasn't his decision anymore.

Aizawa stared at him for a long second before rubbing his face. "Fuck."

"Yeah, that about sums it up," I muttered.

The room was quiet. Just the sound of Aizawa shifting slightly, as he leaned against his desk.

Then the door opened.

Nezu walked in first, eyes sharp. All Might followed, stepping inside with a furrowed brow.

Aoyama didn't look up.

Nezu hopped onto a chair. "I assume this is serious."

I gestured for them to sit, then took a deep breath. "Let me tell you a story. Aoyama, correct me when I am wrong."

He gave a small nod, face unreadable.

"A boy born Quirkless in a world where even the neighbor aunties flex their powers like it is a damn fashion statement. Where heroes and villains do magic tricks, and everyone eats it up. In this fucked-up society, your birth basically decides your starting point. If you luck out with a strong Quirk, you are golden... doesn't matter what career you choose, you will leave a mark. But if your Quirk is mediocre or trash, you are nothing more than a stepping stone for the ones born better."

Aoyama flinched, but he didn't interrupt.

I kept going. "And then there is the cursed percentage- the ones born Quirkless. And they get fucked in all holes."

Silence.

All Might cleared his throat, but I ignored him.

"A boy is born Quirkless. He hates it. Hates watching everyone else do crazy shit while he is stuck at zero. All he wants is to have what everyone else does, to not be the one left out. But fate is a bitch, and it dealt him a losing hand." I glanced at Aoyama. "How am I doing so far?"

His fingers twitched like they were trying to snitch on him. Voice didn't crack, though. Props. "Correct."

I let the chair take my weight. Better it than me. "Now, the boy could've stayed like that. Accepted it. Found a different path. But he didn't. Because someone offered him a way out. Someone who could give him power in exchange for… something."

Aoyama looked down. "Correct."

I looked at All Might, who already looked like someone had kicked his stomach in. "That someone was too powerful, and if I am correct, and believe me, I fucking don't wanna be wrong about this, Aoyama, that someone is either threatening you or your family, or you are a cold son of a bitch that willingly betrayed us. Now, from what I observed, you started to ease up and warm to the class after that fossil bastard All for One got caught and shipped to Tartarus to get raped every day." I didn't blink. "So, he gave you the Quirk, didn't he?"

Aoyama's hands clenched in his lap. His shoulders were locked up like he expected me to deck him and was already rehearsing the apology.

Nezu leaned forward slightly. "Answer him."

Aoyama exhaled, slow. "Yes."

I exhaled all the pent-up anger in my chest. "Now that is forgivable. I would not blame you for protecting your family and taking the hard pill. I would do the same." I gave him a long look. "Subjectively? Fuck you. Objectively? Bravo."

Aoyama barely reacted. His fingers twitched, but he just sat there, staring at the table like it might have the answers to life.

"So," I continued, tapping my fingers against my leg, "you leaked the location of the training camp, correct?"

Aoyama swallowed. "Yes."

All Might shifted, his hand tightening into a fist. Aizawa didn't say anything, just let the silence stretch. Nezu stayed still, waiting.

I leaned back. "How much did you give them? Just the location, or more?"

"Just the location," Aoyama said, voice small. "I- I did not know what they planned. I was only told to pass the information. That was all."

I nodded, looking at All Might. "I know you have some beef with that fossil shit, but Aoyama is not to blame here. Although it includes me and my brother, I could see his cries for help but just could not connect the dots. I do not know the whole story, but now that you do, you should take action. Principal, you are rich and have connections. You can save Aoyama's family and keep them safe, and we would be done with this shit. I promise to never speak of it to anyone."

All Might did not react right away. His jaw was tight, but he was listening. Nezu steepled his paws together, watching Aoyama like he was dissecting him in his head.

"You said you heard his cries for help?" Aizawa asked me. Not accusing, just clarifying.

"Not really," I said. "I just knew something was off." I nodded at Aoyama. "Guy has been weird since day one. Always putting on a show, but it never felt real. If I actually put my brain to work earlier, maybe I would have figured it out, but I did not that deeply."

Aoyama let out a small breath, still looking down. "You were not supposed to."

All Might exhaled through his nose. "Aoyama… you understand the risk you took by speaking to us now, do you not?"

Aoyama nodded.

Nezu hummed. "And you have not been contacted since All For One's defeat?"

Aoyama shook his head. "I have not."

"And if you were?"

His hands clenched slightly. "I would be expected to obey."

Aizawa finally moved, scratching the back of his head. "Alright," he said, then looked at Nezu. Aizawa: "You can pull some strings?"

"Oh, I have strings. Threads, wires, pulleys. And some people who owe me favors they can't repay. I will make it work." Nezu smiled. "But of course."

Aoyama's hands twitched. "You-?"

"You are one of my students," Aizawa said. "I do not abandon my students."

Aoyama's mouth opened slightly like he wanted to say something, but nothing came out.

I sighed. "Look, man, I get it. This shit is not easy. But you talked, and that is what matters."

Aoyama's hands were shaking slightly, but he clenched them into fists. "I do not deserve this kindness."

"Maybe not," I said. "But you are getting it anyway, so shut up and take it."

Aoyama let out something that was almost a laugh, but it was too thin to really be one. He just nodded.

Nezu hopped off his chair. "I will make the arrangements. Aizawa, All Might, we will speak again soon."

All Might placed a hand on Aoyama's shoulder. "You are not alone in this."

Aoyama swallowed. "Thank you."

Aizawa looked at me. "And you."

"What?"

He narrowed his eyes slightly. "Stop sneaking onto the roof in the middle of the night."

I scoffed. "Catch me when I fall off. Not before."
