Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Using Power to Change the World

Chapter 88: Using Power to Change the World

In the end, the three auctioned soul bones from Heaven Dou Auction House were acquired by three major factions Room 4 representing Star Luo Empire, Room 3 belonging to Spirit Hall, and Room 5 under the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

After the auction concluded, Ye Cheng walked out of the venue with a gold card containing over 230 million gold soul coins, accompanied by his disciple Zhu Zhuqing and his five newly acquired maids. The auction house executives respectfully escorted them to the entrance.

"With this money, the construction of Baiyun City needs to be expedited," Ye Cheng thought as he stepped outside, glancing around. Yet, despite standing in such a grand and prosperous capital, he felt that nowhere truly felt like home.

This "home" he longed for wasn't just a house to live in it was a place that truly belonged to him, a sanctuary where he could rest without worries, where his heart and soul could finally find peace.

Ever since his entire family was massacred at the age of six, he had been wandering the world like a nomad, going from place to place, buying property but never staying for long. He had no sense of security. In a world filled with hidden dangers, even a passing battle between powerful soul masters could easily endanger an innocent bystander's life.

That's why Ye Cheng had always kept his distance from the world he refused to fully integrate into it, afraid that his lack of uniqueness would doom him to become just another nameless soul lost in history. He feared becoming assimilated by this brutal world, destined to be a stepping stone for others.

But now, everything was different.

There was an old saying: "When one is powerless, they should protect themselves; but when they become strong, they should uplift the world."

Now that Ye Cheng had unparalleled strength, he no longer needed to merely survive he could influence the world itself.

He no longer had to hide or live cautiously. Instead, he wanted to reshape this world, to reform its oppressive, barbaric system of nobles and slaves and push it toward equality and progress, just like the society he had once known in his past life.

And the first step toward this grand vision would be the establishment of Baiyun City.

Gathering Forces

Now that funding for Baiyun City was secured, Ye Cheng's next priority was recruiting loyal subordinates. A city needed a structured system to function a single person couldn't manage everything alone.

So he set his sights on four specific clans the Four Great Single Attribute Clans originally destined to join Tang Sect in the original story.

Ye Cheng's Strategy:

Most Important Target – The Yu Clan (御之一族)This clan specialized in architecture and construction, essential for building Baiyun City.Recruiting them was Ye Cheng's top priority.Valuable Addition – The Po Clan (破之一族)They possessed the strongest offensive capabilities among the four clans. They were skilled in alchemy and medicine making, which could be useful for researching cultivation enhancing elixirs for his future academy.Less Critical – The Li Clan (力之一族)Known for their blacksmithing skills, but they only produced ordinary weapons, not soul tools. In the original story, their loyalty to Tang Hao made them difficult to recruit, but Ye Cheng wasn't too concerned. If they joined, great if not, no loss.Least Useful – The Min Clan (敏之一族)Specialized in speed and intelligence gathering, but had no independent industry.Their information network was only valuable if they pledged allegiance to a faction.

Ultimately, the Yu Clan was essential, while the other three were optional but beneficial.

Journey to Longxing City

After finalizing his plans, Ye Cheng didn't immediately depart. He took a few days to make necessary preparations.

He left Zhu Zhuqing behind in a private mansion in Heaven Dou City, instructing her to focus on her training. The five sisters were also stationed there they weren't needed for this particular mission.

Arrival in Longxing City

Longxing City was located near the border between Heaven Dou Empire and Star Luo Empire. It was home to the Yu Clan, the most successful of the Four Great Clans.

Using full powered sword flight, Ye Cheng reached Longxing City in just half an hour a journey that would have taken ordinary travelers over a month by carriage.

This bustling trade city, positioned less than 200 kilometers from the imperial border, was independent from direct Star Luo royal rule. Instead, it belonged to a subsidiary kingdom under Star Luo's control.

Thanks to its strategic trade location, Longxing City was extremely prosperous, filled with merchants, travelers, and soul masters from across the continent.

Blending In

To avoid attracting too much attention, Ye Cheng landed outside the city walls and used his Illusion Domain (梦幻泡影) to alter his appearance slightly.

A faint mist covered his face, subtly changing his features while keeping his aura suppressed. This way, he wouldn't immediately draw the attention of powerful individuals.

Once disguised, he walked through the city gates and merged into the crowd.

Using his mental scan, he quickly pinpointed the Yu Clan's estate a large, fortress like mansion with a golden plaque inscribed with the character "Yu" (御) hanging above the entrance.

Upon closer examination, Ye Cheng discovered that the estate's design was actually far more complex than it appeared.

Though it looked rough and simplistic, his clairvoyant scan revealed that the mansion was filled with expertly hidden defense mechanisms and architectural reinforcements.

"Impressive. This is exactly the kind of expertise I need."

Seeing the high level of craftsmanship in the Yu Clan's estate only further convinced Ye Cheng he had to recruit these people at any cost.
