Zane's POV~
Doctor Simon strode toward me with his usual composed demeanor, his footsteps brisk and purposeful. Alfie, who had been sitting at the edge of the bed, stood up quickly to give the doctor space to begin his examination.
The diagnosis felt like it dragged on for an hour, testing the very limits of my patience. My other leg....the one that wasn't bandaged began swinging restlessly in annoyance, the subtle motion betraying my growing irritation.
"He's fine, Alphas. He simply needs to rest," Simon finally declared, his voice devoid of warmth. "As for the leg, it's just a sprain. It should fully heal within two weeks."
He stood up as he spoke, that same cold expression still etched on his face. But just as he turned, I reached out and grabbed his wrist, halting his movement. He froze. Our eyes locked.
That voice...
Had I heard it before? Somewhere beyond the walls of this mansion? At the organization, perhaps?
