When Ariel had suggested that they needed to meet each other's families. She had not really expected to have to introduce her brother, and her fiancé so soon.
But Peter's sudden arrival had forced her hand. Rather than take it as something bad, Ariel decided to take it as a positive. She had left them alone in the living room. Hoping that by the time she went to join them, the two of them would be more comfortable with one another.
But clearly Ariel had put far too much stock into the men in her life, and their ability to socialize. As she moved around in the small kitchen getting things ready for a simple pasta dish, Ariel kept throwing glances over towards where Peter and Tristan were seated. They might as well have been part of the furniture.
